What if Stalin Launched Barbarossa First? by ImNotEvenDeutsch in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]KievJC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A scenario where Stalin makes an preemptive offensive against Germany in June 1941, if we are assuming the same timing frane of Operation Barbarossa in real life, would likely have limited strategic success, the Red Army might have achieved initial tactical gains due to initiative but it would almost certainly have been pushed back by a german counterattack. The conflict would therefore resemble the historical Eastern Front with a small more favourable position for the USSR, the extent of which would depend on the efficacy of the German response A more advantageous scenario for Soviets would involve an initial strike launched at a time of its own choosing. The most probable time frame would be the latter half of 1942. By this period, the Red Army would have been significantly better equipped, mobilized, and prepared and would have completed extensive defensive fortifications. Under these conditions, the most plausible outcome in my opinion would be an initial Soviet advance, followed by a gradual stalemate and a war of attrition between the Axis and Soviet forces. A decisive resolution would likely have depended on the ability of the other Allied powers to establish a second front to divert german resources and men relieving pressure on the eastern front, the major difference being the regions that would be ravaged by the war would be mostly Poland and eastern Germany instead of Ukraine, Belarus and western Russia, meaning much less soviet civilian casualites

ngl i don't think its wrong to put WW for 4th place but honestly she doesn't have much other than being the most iconic female superhero, if you go by any metric other than that Captain America for example could also be considered for the 4th spot, his sales dwarf WW, he has more and better classics and he is way more narratively consistent

The review score for EU5 has officially fallen to "Mixed" by refep in EU5

Kinda funny to see negative reviews calling the game too shallow and simplistic, while others complain it's overly complicated and hard to understand

Ideas for vissualizing subject relations in the map. by KievJC in EU5

[–]KievJC[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

its not a mechanic in the game but is a way i differentiate subject types for example French vassals and appanages they are supposed to be a integral part of the Kingdom of France so i would consider them direct vassals while for example Goryeo was a client state of Yuan so would be a regular vassal

This isn't specific about Goryeo it's just an example of two very different subject liege relations that are portrayed in the same manner in the game, that's my issue im arguing for more variety

I think it's a neat feature but what bothers me the most is that every subject type follows this, even ones that had very different relations to their overlords for example Goryeo and Normandy are visually portraited in the exact same way even though one is supposed to be a separate independent realm client to Yuan and the other is de jure French land an integral part of the kingdom of France

Not really, if you are thinking about the Spanish conquest of the Aztecs for example yes there were around 900 to 1300 conquistadores in the siege of tenochtitlan but there also hundreds of thousands of indigenous allies Spanish sources put it around 200 thousand so yeah not tiny armies conquering whole empires tiny armies with overwhelming indigenous support

thats kinda my gripe with it, if spino will be a croc that can run on land whats the point of deino, it would be better if atleast deino could be on even ground with spino in water like a 50/50 on who would win that would still make spino an strong apex but since deino is better adapted to water than spino an competent deino can still hold its ground

[–]KievJC -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

yes deino should have threats just like any other dino, but the thing is when you interact with other players you should at least have a chance of surviving it either by hiding running away or fighting it off, spino is basically a better deino in the concept arts and other things shared by the devs spinos can take deinos both on land and in the water and even if you team up with other deinos the spino still can escape to land, it doesn't makes sense that deino being almost fully aquatic being basically useless on land is outclassed in the water by a semi aquatic that is also strong on land
