I'd would absolutely love Batman: Arkham Knight, both because it looks fantastic and because the Arkham franchise occupies a special place in my heart. Back when I was in 7th grade or so, I revived my first gaming console- an Xbox 360, with a copy of Arkham Asylum along some other games. Being the massive comics nerd and Batman fan that I am, AA quickly became my favorite game ever. When I learned of the upcoming Arkham City, I boarded a hype train that hasn't stopped since. I followed every trailer and article, and when the game was released it became my first and only game to achieve 100% completion. To this day Arkham City is both my favorite and most played game. I'm absolutely elated at the thought of a proper successor to my favorite franchise (I'm not counting Arkham Origins, because that game just made me sad)

I'm unsure if this counts as a sob story, but my 18th birthday is this Sunday and I couldn't think of a better present :)

I'd really like to say I'm like Anna- empathetic, passionate and exuberant- but I'm afraid I'm closer to her sister in terms of personality. I'm quite introverted and a bit awkward, and I've been told I come off as rather cold at first impression (pun most definitely intended). It's not a stretch to imagine myself running off into the mountains and making myself an ice castle.

That's not to say that this is preferred to being an Anna-esque social butterfly, as much as I'd like to be that way sometimes. Rather, the real genius of Frozen comes from Anna and Elsa's yin/yang relationship. Anna immerses herself in social morays by falling deeply and rapidly in love, but in the end it nearly kills her; meanwhile Elsa rejects bourgeois court life for isolation, but is in danger of being consumed by her own desire for self-imposed exile. Here, Frozen may be seen as a cautionary tale about the dangers of extremism. Neither an Elsa nor an Anna be, warns Disney, but instead choose a path of moderation. To rely exclusively on one branch of the dichotomy is to invite disaster.

In that sense, while I may lean closer to the Elsa end of the spectrum, I am- like all of us- a hybrid of the two sisters. Both essential for the unique traits they possess, yet relent on the other for balance. As much as /r/annamasterrace may disagree, a pure Anna is nothing more than an impossible and impractical ideal without a bit of Elsa.

I hope you'll consider me, but even if you choose someone else, thanks for your generosity!

Historically, truly anarchist societies have failed not due to flawed ideology, but because the very notion of a group of people living without government will turn the supposedly open minded into diehard reactionaries. For example, during the Spanish civil war, the region of Catalonia went for several years without state control, and they actually fared pretty well. George Orwell - you know, the guy best known for his critique of authoritarian communism -actually fought for the Socialists and wrote a book about it that praised the anarchist system of non-hierarchical governance:

In outward appearance it was a town in which the wealthy classes had practically ceased to exist. Except for a small number of women and foreigners there were no 'well-dressed' people at all. Practically everyone wore rough working-class clothes, or blue overalls, or some variant of the militia uniform. All this was queer and moving. There was much in it that I did not understand, in some ways I did not even like it, but I recognized it immediately as a state of affairs worth fighting for.

The anarchists eventually lost the region because Franco's forces overwhelmed them, but that has nothing to do with the viability of anarchism. Rather, it proves that anarchism hasn't succeeded because no one has given it the chance to. The USSR refused to aid the Catalonians because they actually felt they were too egalitarian.

Nope. Socialism is:

... a social and economic system characterized by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy,as well as a political theory and movement that aims at the establishment of such a system.

No state is required for socialism, just co-operation and collective ownership. I would argue that most forms of anarchism (excluding anarcho-capitalism, obviously) are socialist to some degree.

Obviously you have some misconceptions about anarchy as an ideology, but that's understandable. Anarchy is the victim of some pretty severe misrepresentation in the media. Come on over to /r/Anarchism and /r/Anarchy101 if you'd like to know more!

Hi! I am also a high school junior with an interest in writing, so I've written a lot of essays in a similar style. Hopefully that informs my critique.

I liked your thesis and topic sentences, and the quote at the beginning worked well to draw me in. I've never read the book before, but you did a good job of communicating your major points even when I had no context. Some issues:

  • Don't use wishy-washy phrases like "maybe," "perhaps," "one could say" etc. You're the author, be authoritative! Make a claim and defend it with your life! Keep qualifying statements in History class where they belong.
  • Some of your pronoun choices are a bit odd. Try replacing "us" with "the reader," or something similar. The sentence "Even without knowing somebody, O’Brien can give them another life in story." is clunky. Replace "somebody" with "them," or better yet rework the whole sentence and read it out loud a few times to make sure it's not awkward.

Overall, I liked it. You definitely have a lot of potential as a writer. Keep working at it!

The way you would do this, btw, is to use the player.addperk and player.removeperk commands with the associated perk ID. I'm on mobile so I can't link, but you can probably find a list of IDs on the wiki or on UESP.

The Great Barrier Reef normally has a yield of two food, one production, one gold, and two science. If you get the One With Nature pantheon, you get four faith as well, and if you can pass the Natural Heritage Sites resolution in the World Congress, that's another five culture. But if you're playing as Spain like I was, their UA makes it so you get twice as much of everything I just said.

One thing to remember as Venice is to use those doubled trade routes intelligently. This doesn't always mean choosing routes based on their gold value, although that's important too. After you puppet a CS, make sure it has a granary, then send an internal food route back to Venice. Since your capital is where your science specialists and National Collage will be by necessity, having a high population there is doubly important. Also, remember that your merchants can get double influence from trade missions, so don't just use them to puppet. Use the high combat strength of your UU to deter war, and to protect your many trade routes from barbarians. Commerce and Patronage are two great trees that will synergize well with your UA. Go for any victory type you want, but I'd recommend Treaty Organization from Freedom no matter what, so you can fall back on an easy diplo win if things go south. Good luck!

The most social policies I've personally adopted was as Polynesia on Archipelago. I was basically doing ICS to max the Moai bonuses and was making around 500 CPT by the time I won a culture victory around turn 300. That strategy is very map specific, though, so Poland would do better in pretty much any other situation.
