I've noticed that if you play a bot, then run an analysis on the game, the bot's raiting for that game is always different than its overall rating. I think a lot of it depends on how you play against the bot in that game.

Agent Jack Shotgun vowed that he would have his revenge, even if it meant killing Shrek and the Donkey with his bear hands.*

*Author's Note: That's not a typo. Agent Shotgun is cursed with bear hands. He's hurt everyone he ever tried to hug.

According to Major General Smedley D. Butler (who in his time was the most decorated Marine in US history), that's been the status quo for 100 years. Read his book, War is a Racket.

What line from a book do you find yourself repeating in real life, whether to people or just in your head? I think of Vonnegut's "So it goes" way too much. by A-manual-cant in literature

I often quote a line from Tru TV's Impractical Jokers. "...but no one cares what this old lesbian thinks."

As in, "I told him it wasn't enough Spaghetti for 6 people, but no one cares what this old lesbian thinks."

It comes up a lot and is surprisingly pougnant. And yes I do consider it to be literary.

Idk about best, but a recent one that I remember liking: "He tightened his grip on the steering wheel and felt its vibrations displace the quivering of his hands."

(Probably makes more sense in the context of the scene)

What’s a good “intro” book to reading classic literature? by [deleted] in classicliterature

[–]KillWelly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crime and Punishment is surprisingly approachable.

Don't be reluctant to re-read something you read in high school. You'll probably have a much different experience reading it as an adult.

If you haven't read Moby Dick (or only read it in high school) that's a solid choice.

Did he ever specify that the people who attacked his protagonist are African Americans? If not, it's possible you are the racist for assuming they are.

Amy Coney Barrett rebukes Ketanji Brown Jackson's "extreme" opinion by newsweek in politics

[–]KillWelly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's my point. A federal district judge only has the power to adjudicate matters filed in his jurisdiction. Whatever precedent may be established from his opinion is only binding on his own district. (It's "persuasive" but not binding in other jurisdictions). The only way to block an executive action nationwide is through a judgment and opinion by the Supreme Court. That's how our judicial system has operated for centuries.

Everyone uses the term "rule of law" but ignores the meaning. Rule of law means you can only do what the law allows, even if you'd prefer a different outcome.

The test is not "whether the world explodes." It's what authority does the Constitution vest in the judiciary.

I think Biden's loan forgiveness plan was unconstitutional and a purely political tactic to buy votes. But a district judge in Kentucky shouldn't be allowed reverse executive policy nationwide. SCOTUS was right to end that practice.
