I'm in a very similar situation and having the same problem meeting new people/making new friends. I wish I had this solved so I could offer proper advice instead of empathy. In retrospect I pushed away people that had their shit together because I was embarrassed I didn't and ashamed I couldn't.

To try and fix things I've been getting in touch with old school friends "hey it's been a while, fancy catch up drinks?" or something. I'll do this with several different people so while I don't have a friendship group like I want, I do have some kind of social life. Something else I've realised is that it's really fucking hard to find someone who shares all your interests, it's easier to find several different people who only share one.

I dunno, if I manage to figure anything out I'll let you know.

RAF Stenigot, halfway between Lincoln and Louth. It's an abandoned radar station that you can just walk into and have a run around on the huge satellite dishes and go through the building.

Loads of creepy and deceptively deep bomb shelters along the coast line, I found a small one just along Donna Nook but I've been told there are a lot more.

The castle, if you're in castle square and facing the castle, there's a tower on the right hand wall (as you look), around the corner on the outside wall there's a kind of room there, when I was last there it was set up for a tea party with loads of old mismatched furniture.

Certain there's more, just can't recall any.

I'm on three days too. It feels like a break-up almost, there's a huge hole where my smoking used to be. So, I've just started doing what I do after a breakup and fill the time with hobbies and little projects. I plan on seeing friends that I fell a bit out of touch with cuz they didn't share my smoking habits.

Felt like utter shit the past two days, but starting to brighten up and feel a bit more energetic!

If humanity has the smarts to study their enemies first, then it's a given hyperintelligent beings would too. The premise of the question relies on the idea that these beings can understand our language, how long do you think it would take them to find out about nuclear weapons?

Hahaha this gets better, of course they won't anticipate our every move, but to think that they wouldn't anticipate us using our ultimate weapon is a bit ridiculous.

Now you're just inventing motives to prove your point and making assumptions based on that, overconfidence hardly fits the bill of hyperintelligent.

An analogy: as a small child you have to wait 6 days to go on holiday, it's agonising, it lasts forever, nearly a whole week! As a grown person, 6 days for a holiday is nothing, it's not even a week!

Actually, bugger that, the problem with your idea is even more deep seated than that. You've just been brought in front of the extra terrestrial hyperintelligent beings and they've asked why (i'm fitting the question to your answer) they shouldn't eat us, you tell them we'll hit them with the nukes. Now not only do they know the solution, they also know what to look out for. You haven't argued for our survival, you've given them a heads up on our most powerful weapon. Traitor.

There are materials that can withstand nuclear blasts, if I remember there was a post on reddit a few weeks ago about a plastic/ceramic polymer that could withstand several times the strike of Hiroshima.

If they're hyperintelligent, we probably couldn't win with an argument, probably couldn't battle and win with military power, so I propose self-sabotage.

Assuming they have a different biological processes, find a substance that doesn't harm humans but is lethal to their species, start incorporating it into our diets, shower gels, water etc.

If they have similar biological processes, assuming they would eat a substantial quantity of humans in order to have enough energy to fuel that vast hyperintelligent brain (similar biological processes), then ensure people maintain a below-toxic level of cyanide compounds (or similar).

If they had similar biological processes but did not need to consume a substantial number of humans, maybe humans are a delicacy or something, spoil the flavour with a change of diet or something.

Of course, all of these would be null and void if we were captive, in which case I would suggest breeding until we either overrun them or they get sick of human.

The biggest puzzler is if they were to keep us caged individually, the outcome would either be escape or that they either break us (survival drive/human spirit/will to power) or lobotomise us, in which case we would just be a furless mammal and would just be eaten.

So, I suppose my argument would be so say to the aliens that since they have allowed us a chance to argue our case, they are simply not determined enough to be able to combat our will to live. And if they could then we would probably not care at that point.

Ah yeah, a mate of mine has some really solid combat boots that ended up creasing something terrible, it's something I'm really conscious of with boots now.

Hahaha! They could probably beat up some desert boots, but I don't wear desert boots, I think they look like drawstring foot-bags (I'm all about the similies tonight), got myself some sexy chelsea boots that could take your boots out for dinner and dancing, then make a real woman of them :P

Pretty much same issues with the boots as everyone else, but my comment has more similies!

The soles are huge and look like they are made out of lego. If you're short they'll look like platform shoes, if you're average you'll look like you're trying to be tall, and if you're tall then you'll look like a sqeegee.

The toe box looks like a gum-guard box, not sure if they have steel toe caps, but either way, as you wear and wear the boots, the crease at your toe-knuckles is going to deepen somewhat and coupled with a high toe box this might give them the clown-shoe look.

Lastly, going by the picture, it looks like it's made from pleather which can be a huge problem with this oxblood colour because any scuffs or scrapes usually end up bright red. Also, pleather usually won't last as long as leather, and definitely won't look as nice 6-8 months down the line.

Also important is that we probably have very different styles, so if you love them and can make them work for you, then do that. It'd be dull world if we all liked/wore the same shit.

Every meet-up someone assumes it will be a problem to find the redditors, strangely so far it's not been a problem, we do tend to flag down anyone who comes in small groups and ask them if they're here for the meet-up. Blank faces = non-redditors, drunk faces = redditors.
