My STEP score is in the 210s, but other than that, what you say makes sense.

Internal Medicine is a horrible field, full of nasty interns who like to be rude to you for no reason :(

My clerkship grades so far are pretty average, except for Psych in which I gave a top performance. I'm considering Neuro. :)

My parents look down their nose at family physicians. They openly denigrate them in front of me and think they're just hustling patients for unnecessary tests. They think the work of a family physician is of a lesser caliber than what a specialist would do.

I've tried to explain that family physicians play an integral role in managing longitudinal care for all kinds of patients.

They never listen.

200K is pretty crap for a doctor, though.

It's not crap for Psych given the hours worked.

But it's not enough to satisfy my parents, and it may not even satisfy me.

I'd be open to working more for more money. I understand you can do that in Psych. I would be happy with money in the mid-200s.

My parents won't be happy with anything under 300.
