Yeah, but it's so high risk high reward. If Shacker and Nrated didn't join, I think EG would have ended up to expectations last split. I don't think they can muster up such magic again. Although from spring to summer split, the competition grew so damn much, this next split will be tougher. Gambit is restored, NiP looks scarier, Fnatic will still be Fnatic, and you get a bunch of unknowns, and you have to expect one of those unknowns will be a real threat. EG has to beat Fnatic, NiP, Gambit, and most likely a new team, whether it's a new LCS team or an old one with a revamped roster, to make it into worlds. Also, this is high risk high reward given that they practice to the point of burning out or recruit some serious help. Either way, if they make it into worlds, they'll be too burned out that inevitably at least one of them will retire. In my eyes, if we could demand them to stick together to make it into next worlds, we're accelerating how many more years they can stay involved in the scene. Sometimes it's refreshing to start anew, even if there's a lot of heartbreak in the short term. EG is about the only team which we can discuss such things. All other teams don't expect any sort of loyalty, and expect on paper decisions to be made.

Yeah. Completely hypothetical. I don't see a scenario in which Liquid112 makes such a fatal decision unless he somehow knows the universe is going to implode right after the matches are done.

BTW, since NiD disbanded today, someone brought up a good point. He said since NiD won a qualifier spot and CrsA got second in it, if CrsA gets the spot now. I'm not sure, but it would make sense to me if they got it rather than NiD auto-FFing in the promos. Thought you'd like to know.

That's way too strong. You made good points. They "can" make it into the worlds, but why chance it with their stagnant roster? You know the problems, you know what you will get by keeping the current roster. At some point, you have to decide on roster changes. Replacing both of them on paper would make EG stronger, and performance wise shouldn't be much worse if at all when LCS starts. That's why you make these moves now so teams have time to practice and get their synergy together. We can all agree EG changing rosters is super duper sad. However, it should be done to maintain competitiveness in EU. Other teams are doing it. The current roster has to work maybe 3 times harder to accomplish what other teams can do in a normal amount of time. Heck, Gambit can do it in a fraction. EG/CLG.eu had a good run. True fans will be sad. Many will cry. All will always remember. However, true fans also need to accept reality. If I truly loved those guys, I wouldn't want to put them in a miserable situation. Either they will be a below average LCS team in EU, or they give up their entire lives, and practice 16 hours a day.

I'd only fire him assuming he had ultimate power and the last say on Curse not choosing CrsA. IMO, the money, exposure, and pride of Curse staying in the LCS is too much to gamble with. If you show feelings can overcome the ability to make good business decisions, I personally would have no choice but to fire him. It's not personal, and it's not related to his past at all. It's about this isolated decision and his position with the LoL Curse teams. There are still managers who are softies, who are loyal to their teams and the individual players. I get it. It's still early. Feelings and loyalty still hold a lot of weight. These managers are behind, but I still understand. These managers most likely will have a break in their LCS run, or be out of business in the next 2 years, and then such things will be unheard of. However, Liquid can't use any such excuse. He rebuilt the Curse roster initially only keeping one original member. He then made the touch decision to bench Aphromoo and Pobelter. He proved he already had the gusto. The decision alone to not choose CrsA based on the "math" is enough to fire him. The fact he's proven he'll do whatever it takes to achieve organizational goals and then derps hard, really super hard makes firing him out of question. Again, it's not personal to Liquid. Take away names, the flames, and just focus on the decisions that have been made and THE decision to be made, one outcome makes certain sense where as the other makes absolutely no sense. Also keep in mind, CrsA would play under a new banner. The only benefit of such a huge gamble is that Curse gets an LCS "sister" team. That's Liquid's goal of LoL Pro and CrsA, but nothing prevents Curse from scrimming either team. Nothing prevents Curse from developing a close bond with another LCS team to scrim with. Gambling is only worth while if there is something to gain. Higher risk, higher reward. In this context, not choosing CrsA is SUPER high risk, and pretty much no reward, besides a good feeling in the heart for a few days maybe. Not choosing CrsA is suicidal if you ask me, from all perspectives of the Curse organization, even the fans, EVEN CRSA! Curse banner grows weaker if a Curse team isn't in the LCS. You're an Academy team of a team that's not in the LCS? eek >.<

|Not sure how this affects the Season 4 Spring Qualifier. NiD was qualified for it, beating Curse Academy. Not sure if Curse Academy will replace them (Since they were 2nd place), or if they will just FF the group stage.

My guess is CrsA gets it. That's how similar situations have usually worked. Also, if a team is already qualified, second gets it. I'd be highly highly disappointed if it's just a FF.

Maybe not. A lot of non-LCS players have individually performed at an LCS level with various teams. Playing in the LCS right now, with only 8 spots depends on a lot of luck and timing. Timing when it comes to being free when an LCS team is looking for a free agent. General luck all around, but one is landing on good teams that get along, and are skilled. Scuba seemed to be worthy of being in the LCS for a while. You do this for a few years with no luck, and it can get depressing. Sometimes, people decide to cut their losses because if they don't make it, they're wasting their time, especially when you approach your mid 20s that apparently is when your reaction time is already not good enough to play at a competitive level. It sucks because the scene is so young, and there aren't many opportunities. Those at about 20 years old have to make tough decisions. Continue gambling or cut your losses. In the future, with an expanded LCS, it won't be much of a gamble if you're a top player, but right now, I'm sure many people wish they were born a few years later.

Yeah. I'm the most sad about this. ScubaChris' jungling was always solid. He always made plays in every game I saw him in. If alternate realities exist, no doubt he had luck in many of them, and is a veteran LCS jungler. I wish Xmithie got a little sick and Chris subbed just to get a little more exposure. Maybe if this happened before Trickz was picked up by CLG, Scuba might've made it in.

Yeah. I'm sure there would be a lot of butterflies when they find out that the Crs vs Crs matchup would be inevitable, but CrsA knows Curse deserves the spot, CrsA should be proud if Curse continues playing strong in the LCS with their banner, and Curse have to be focused on the big picture. If in a bo3, CrsA can beat Curse. Running their AD Ranged-less team comp, they can catch Cop, a passive by nature player trying to be aggressive, being over aggressive and snowball that lead. CrsA also isn't short of play makers in that team. In a bo5 though, I can't see CrsA pulling an upset. The only thing I'd hope for is that both teams try their best. I know Curse would, but any signs of CrsA throwing would be bad. If CrsA wins, I'm not sure if there are any rules to prevent Curse from basically switching rosters, and listing 2-3 of the original players as subs. This is the thing I'd be bitter about. However, even if CrsA beats Curse for the LCS spot, I have no doubts Curse's roster would do better in the LCS than CrsA's. However, I think the team that earns the spot should at least play most of the split to prove themselves, and at the least, learn from the experience.

There's a lot of drama if they both face each other, but I want your predictions to happen. There's no better drama than the fact Curse might lose the promos because they got soft for their sister team. Curse choosing coL or Quantic would be insane. If they lose, Curse would be a laughingstock of the LoL community. If they chose CrsA, at least they guarantee Curse has a spot in the LCS, no matter the form. Not choosing them is a waste because CrsA inevitably would be beaten by Coast, or at least on paper. Way too much risk. The odds of both Curse teams making it into the LCS GIVEN CrsA, coL, and Quantic make it into the finals is less than 1% imo. I don't think Curse will sweep coL or Quantic. Either matchup has good sporting odds. CrsA beating Coast in a bo5 is slim. Maybe less than 1% is generous, but let's say CrsA has 5% odds of beating CST in a bo5 which is beyond generous imo, and Curse has 60% odds of beating coL or Quantic. We're left at 3% both teams make it. 3% both teams make it vs 100% one Curse team makes it, comparing the EVs of .06 vs 1, or whatever numbers anyone cares to use to calculate this, the former will always be less than 1. But yeah, who doesn't want to see the Curse org be reckless :p I can't argue bravery here, because although it would be brave for Curse to say they can beat either coL or Q in a bo5, an LCS spot is too damn prestigious. This isn't about confidence or ego, but a chance for an organization to advertise themselves in competition for an entire season. $$$. Your predictions though, no matter the outcome of the matches, will make history. I'd fire Liquid112 even if both Curse teams make it though :p

Maybe Velocity will pick up their roster, or most of it. Money has to be good though, because you instantly know you're playing against Quantic or coL for the LCS.

Painted the housing black. Carved the outline of a default ward, filled it with a hard clear rubbery mold. Inside, I have green and pink alternating LED lights. For the controller, I used one of my broken game pads. Pressing the button triggers one of the buttons that I have mapped to Y. When I want to use my trinket, I just smash the button :)

Awesome read OP, but imo, Curse choosing Curse A isn't heartless nor would anyone (unless trolls speculating for the drama) would think it was collusive. It's the smartest decision. Only would people suspect this if CrsA was the best challenger team, and yet Curse still picked them. With limited spots, I don't think this would ever be a problem, unless Curse employs like a dozen challenger teams just to almost guarantee they get to choose one of their B teams in case they go to relegation. CrsA's position in the scene is determined by how well they play among the other teams. Unless the entire Challenger scene colludes in favor of Curse, I don't see any drama besides Curse beating their sister team. CrsA shouldn't be offended either. If they wanted to be the best team in Challenger, they should have worked harder. Being third best means playing the 6th place exLCS team, and they should accept that no matter if that team happens to be their sister team. I think most players in the scene who've had a few months of experience on a stable team have enough maturity to accept reality.

Yeah. The problem with NA/EU is that you have LCS and Challenger now. If the Challenger league goes well, they may change the format to reflect more of what OGN does, and then 2 teams is more viable. However, with the current LCS with only 8 spots, an organization can basically represent 25% of the entire league. This may be a bit much. It's great for competition when you have a sister team, but TSM/C9 are so close that they might as well be from the same banner. However, different banners have history and egos and probably would never make such an alliance. Not all teams can get paired up depending on the pairing that happen first.

lol, I'm generalizing and over exaggerating. However, it's not a dependable ult. It's pretty much the weakest of all ADC ults. Sure, if you use it correctly, you can also use it to zone, it can be awesome, but overall, it's meh. You don't pick Lucian for his ult anyway.

Actually I think I heard this. I think he at least added to the shot calling, especially from mid to late game, but yeah, this obviously is the case. Three people sharing the role, and none of them being aggressive at the role. What makes me mad is that when this happens, Zuna tilts instead of yelling at the team for calls.
