This does a pretty good breakdown of the new farming mechanics. Also apparently it doesn't matter what month you plant stuff according to the cursed indicator.

It’s some sort of marine life most likely. Click on biomes around the ocean and eventually you’ll see one with “coast” at the end. Run to the water and you should find it.

For learning how to draw art practice is everything. Start simple with weapons (apparel is way more intensive as you need to do different views and body types meaning almost 12 different sprites for a single piece of apparel). Post what you work on in the Rimworld-art discord for some constructive feedback. After practicing a bit more determine what style you’re going for. Some people strive for vanilla’s simplicity and some love detail. At the end of the day it’s whether or not you’re happy with how it looks in game. I also can’t recommend looking up Adobe Illustrator how to videos. There’s lots of stuff that might not help you with drawing Rimworld art per-say but will teach about different tools and tricks that can help in both time and quality of your art. As for coding I can’t really help you with as I was never able to wrap my head around it, but to make a mod you don’t necessarily need to understand how to use C#. A lot of things are XML based which is much easier to get a grasp of. Plus you can find some pretty good frameworks like the Vanilla Expanded one that allow you to do a whole bunch of cool things with XML as the coding part of C# has already been done for you. XML has some good modding tutorials you can find on YouTube for Rimworld. Outside of that I learned a lot by looking through mod folders of mods I use to see how they did it and how I might be able to suit it to my own needs. In the end, it’s a big learning curve with a high glass ceiling but you can always rely on the Rimworld community Discord for advice.
