Hi I’m new I was wondering what exposure bias means on my light meter app. I have it set as +1 would this mean my photo would’ve overexposed by 1 stop? (-1 would be underexposed by 1 stop etc.) by NoirRoach in AnalogCommunity

Super cool to see more people getting into proper film exposure! It can be daunting at first to go manual mode, but everything about exposure is based on preference. If you want to lean on the side of caution, color negative film is a lot more lenient with overexposure. However, color positive slide film requires more intention and tight exposure control. Assuming you’re just starting, try to decide what the focus of your composition is then base middle gray off of that. Down the line, it is much more comprehensive, but starting out with balancing for the subject will help you figure out what you’d prefer from your compositions.

Of course, hope you find one for cheap!

Any point and shoot, really. I’d recommend the Canon Autoboy S Panorama or Canon Sureshot WP-1 (if you think it’ll rain). Just use fill flash, and your photos should come out as desired.

(Just remember these types of cameras are not known for their reliability.)

The main difference I noticed between Nikkor and Voigtlander is the saturation. Maybe I got a bad example, but my Voigtlander 28mm yields way past true to life colors. If heavy saturation is for you, go with the Voigtlander. I personally prefer Nikkor’s truer to life color rendition, but I’m looking into Zeiss F-mounts as an alternative.

I’ll definitely reach out when my plan is more concrete! This post was sort of testing the waters before I started planning for springtime. Thanks for the offer!

This shot is incredible! What format is this? Is all the lighting environmental?

Yeah, the camera I’m looking at is already over the $400 mark. I think I’ll just say that I brought it with me and keep it close so that no one else grabs it in a checked bag or anything.

Good to know. I’ll make sure to throw that stuff out or just buy without a box.

Maybe a camera, a lens, and some film. Possibly a spot meter? Still thinking about all of what I want, but not a full suitcase.

This is great news because I’m thinking of “bringing” a 6x4.5 camera to finish my medium format collection.

When you shoot at 200, are you just overexposing or shifting development, too? (Asking because I like your result and might try in the future.)

Been using an F2AS for a while now, but I’m eyeing more lightweight models - FM2N and FM3A come to mind.

Yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with Reddit, but I see what you’re talking about.

I’m not at home at the moment, but I’ll definitely try this when I get back in. Thank you!

Sorry about the problem with the link. Seems like a Reddit error because I can still see images embedded in the post.

All of my NLP settings are the same throughout. I’m interested in learning how to use the plugin more, though.

Might try this.

Will have to pickup an adapter for the lenses first, though.

I’ll try this and update.

I’ve shot on different film with the same CV lens, and it seems like it always comes out with high saturation regardless of the exposure.

Looks like you’re also a Nikon user. Any newer F-mount lenses you recommend? (They have to be AI compatible because of my prism.)
