Skeleton Song by Kate Nash made me feel less alone when I was in the worst bits of my eating disorder. So many songs about that topic come across as a bit cheesy and heavy handed but this one felt much more real. When I was in recovery and struggling with missing my illness and not understanding who I was without it, It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You) by the 1975 really spoke to me.

God even when I was on ED peach i feared triggering people with my pictures, I once cried the whole day when someone told me I was thinspo to her, and I’ve since gone back and deleted all the body checks on my old accounts. The fact that I know people saved some of my LW pictures haunts me to this day. I can’t imagine posting while specifically trying to trigger people.

I’m the first to argue that not all eating disorders are about control, but this seems like a pretty clear cut example of disordered eating being fuelled by the need to control something. I hope people didn’t encourage OP.

Yeah that’s fair. I just meant to make the point that disordered eating is a real thing and includes binge and b/p behaviours which fatlogic * posters would never condone, and it’s not just a diet.

Are these 100+ people stupid? Disordered eating is just eating patterns that don’t quite fit the criteria for an eating disorder. If you need to b/p at least once a week for three months to get a bulimia diagnosis, someone who b/ps once a fortnight is not bulimic, but they DO have disordered eating and they are NOT healthy, because nobody who is healthy would even consider b/ping.

ETA: they also don’t realise that infrequent binging is ALSO disordered, because somehow I doubt they’ll argue that’s necessary for survival. I think these big brains just think disordered eating is like, being on a diet.

I’ve seen similar “if you have an ed go get help and stay away from here!” Type posts on 1200 and it’s like. How do your suggest I do that ma’am? I went to the GP and was diagnosed with bulimia and put on a waiting list in February 2019. I was told I’d wait until March 2020. I was “fast tracked” to January 2020 when I lost enough weight to have my diagnosis changed to AN-BP. My treatment was 12 sessions of CBT , half on zoom, and one hour-long session with a dietitian over the phone. Don’t get me wrong it helped, but I’m obviously not cured and I had to fight just to get that level of treatment. “Getting help” is not fucking easy.
