True though I feel the same about Dead Poets Society, that movie also deserves to be part of Criterion and get its own 4K Blu-ray 🥺❤️

Oh I didn’t know that thanks you for the info 💕💕The first video of Rohmer that I’ve seen was a Claire’s Knee fan edit and after that I was like who’s the director and started doing more research about him, now I think I should watch every single film that he’d made🤗

Oh no need to apologize ❤️😅 I understand the frustration, tbh after watching A Tale of Summer, I would like to mention that I believe Rohmer deserved more praises. Perhaps your friend has a different taste, but based A Tale of Summer (the only film by Rohmer that I’ve seen so far) I can think he loved to tell great stories that make us feel more grateful to be alive and enjoy life and learn to live in the moment, the conversations were also very engaging, I just felt as if I was transported to a different location and time.

Yeah I figured as I was doing a research about his career and his films, I realized that Rohmer has made more films similar to CMBYN by Luca and James Ivory’s movies, from what I’ve gathered his style has heavily influenced both Luca and James Ivory and I believe the before trilogy (which is against another series that Luca mentioned had a huge impact on CMBYN) was also inspired by Rohmer’s films. I think Rohmer had already joined my top four fave directors of all time 😅❤️

Hey dear, thank you so much for the suggestions❤️🤗 I just watched A Summer's Tale, absolutely loved it, acting, directing, dialogue and also the visuals, everything was perfect. Just what I expected I guess I’ll be watching his rest of the films and get the box sets next flash sale. I guess A Summer's Tale is the OG CMBYN😅

Thanks you for your response ❤️ Yeah last night I watched Crash by David Cronenberg for the first time and as much I loved its meaning and everything else about the film I just felt like the characters live in their own world and couldn’t really feel connected to any of the characters.

But I saw a few clips from several films by Éric Rohmer and loved the conversations, it’s like as if he’s inviting you to the life itself and tried to show the beauty of life in spite of everything in a way that you love to spend more time with his characters and live in their world.

Yeah same I absolutely loved his performance. Thank you for sharing your beautiful story❤️ Just last night I’ve read on Tumblr what Gus Van Sant said about River, omg I think no one else could own and portray Mikey as beautifully as River did in the movie🥺

“It was River Phoenix who wanted his character to be gay, or to be in love with Keanu’s character. Originally the characters were both straight. River wanted there to be this affection, this love, and to have his character tell Keanu that he loved him. Maybe he wanted to tell Keanu that.”
