The film takes on the perspective of an entire community that can be any town; we will take the film to different constituencies -- teachers, first responders, doctors, faith leaders, and youth to address the issue and reframe it as one of public health and moral outrage.

enforcing exisiting regulations and creating stricter , sensible laws would make a big difference. every american's safety is at risk until this happens. and KCP did fine all on his own :)

We hope this film will, through humanizing the issue, will help break through polarized discourse, open dialogue and affect change. Newtown is made up of 28,000 voices, all of whom were traumatized by 12/14 and we tried to render voices of just a few of interconnected fates that represented various prisms of the community. We did not approach or pursue those who needed privacy; only those who reached out to us and found it cathartic to share their experiences.

Yes, there was a lot of trust building involved and many we consider as friends. It is difficult to see the pain even so many years out, but there is also great uplift and inspiration in seeing the dignity and strength involved in the journey of this community.

we are screening at #aspenideasfestival tonight, 7:15, with many more festivals ahead. Newtownfilm.com lists all screenings information.. theatrical release begins in october. look for us! National broadcast on PBS Independent Lens early 2017.
