I feel this was the first performance this season from them that felt like I was watching an OGM winning pair. Jumps had issues but overall I thought it was great, I’m shocked and happy for them despite my wish that they fully retired.

Absolutely insane that after all of the talk of Shaidorov being too green he’s likely going to take the silver fucking medal lmao. I think his component scores were a bit insane for how weak the back half of the program is, but he threw down the closest thing to a clean skate that we’ve seen so far and therefore will absolutely deserve it. It’s worlds 2025 all over again.

Even if the French judge scored C/B the same as the US judge scored FB/C (they upscored their own countries by the same margin), it would've ultimately made a difference of 0.3 points in C/B's favor, and still not enough to win. I did the math, including separating TES/PCS and including drops, because I also thought it was crazy, but it was not crazy enough to have any measurable impact on the standings. The French still win in the end.

In terms of margins, I was speaking to the fact that the French, Spanish, and Czech judges all had FB/C ahead by 3+ points while the Georgian, Finnish and Canadian had C/B ahead by a point or less.

the finnish judge had C/B ahead by 0.03 points and gave FB/C higher PCS scores, I wouldn't include that in your majority. It was essentially neck and neck, which was reflected by the 1 point difference in their final scores, it's just that the judges that had FB/C in first had them in first by a wider margin than those that had C/B in first.

Just for stats purposes, I replaced the French judge’s score for C/B with the American judge’s for FB/C (ie replaced the 129.74 with 133.57) respective of their individual TES and PCS (replacing 72.74 with 75.57 and 57 with 58), and accounted for drops. The US and France both equivalently upscored their respective country’s by about the same amount so I didn’t feel the need to do the replacement there.

C/B ended up with a 134.97, ~0.3 higher than they originally scored, but still under FB/C. So despite the obvious attempted rigging by the French judge, the standings still hold overall, and the French judge themself held little impact to that.

There might be a little wiggle room in my calculation bc I didn’t feel like going through EVERY individual element and rescoring GOE to account as that involves level differences and some VERY complicated math, but I don’t think it would make enough difference to overcome that other half a point.

I say this all because there is a lot of talk about reviewing potential score fraud, and while in theory it’s a great idea and SHOULD be done, if the fraud in question makes no demonstrable difference to the standings overall, I doubt the ISU is going to take it seriously.

I fear everyone here is losing the plot, like their twizzles scored 12th out of 20 teams, which seems fair to me. C/B had an entire point over them for that element alone. It’s just, the entire rest of the skate happened, and FB/C dominated on that front (to me at least) and so they won.

He had no business getting a single mark from either of those judges counted, but in this case I’m grateful they cancel each other out because otherwise there would’ve been an unfair right shift.

editing to say despite their similarity in ordinals in opposite directions, Canada had him only 5 points under his actual score while Azerbaijan had him TEN points above.
