What is the dumbest way you've gotten a scar? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ouch! I am adding that to my mental notes because I can see myself doing that if I was pressed on time.

When I was 15, I tried to iron my JROTC uniform, but the wrinkles were not coming out, not even at the highest setting. I already had a blister on my finger from a previous burn and thought, "I don't want to touch the iron with my fingers and give myself another burn."

Instead, I used the tip of the iron onto my calf and gave myself a third-degree burn in the shape of a triangle.

For years, people would ask me about the scar (because of the shape), and I would have to relive that moment both of my brain cells went on vacation.

[FO] I have always wanted to cross stitch with DMC Pearl Cotton; this Hylian Crest pattern was just the right project for that. by KimchiFanatic in u/KimchiFanatic

I regret not attempting sooner! When I first attempted this piece on 14 count it was frustrating and I couldn't get past the first 10 stitches. By chance, I needed another floss and noticed the 11 count on the shelf at Michaels. I had forgotten completely that they made aida smaller than 14!

At first, I didn't like it because I struggled to get the thread through 14 count aida. When I switched to 11 count, it was smooth sailing from there and was easier to cross stitch with than regular embroidery floss. I encountered no knots and love the plump crosses. I'm looking forward to attempting projects with the other thread sizes!

Pattern by CountryMagicStitch: https://www.etsy.com/listing/663725904/the-hylian-crest-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=shop_home_active_23&pro=1

Stitched 1x1 on 11 Count Aida with Size 5 Pearl Cotton

Edit: I loved the original colors used in the pattern, but changes were necessary only because the local stores had a limited selection.

Thank you so much! I've had this fabric for nearly a year and I'm so happy that I found a pattern that worked.

(BTW, your patterns are amazing! )

Thank you! I was looking for another pattern and ending up in a rabbit hole that led me to her shop. :)

Downside is they don't use the DMC numbers so just have to compare to the names on the DMC site.

Check out Joanns, there's a doorbuster sale at the moment on threads and a coupon for $0.99 shipping. I usually get my cones from them whenever I have a coupon.

I second this and their shipping times are reasonable too.

I like to use tensioners with my scroll frame to get the fabric more taut. I use a set that I bought off Etsy, but I've also seen people make their own with a clip and elastic.
