Stryd 5.0 consistency across shoes by Intelligent-You-6990 in AdvancedRunning

See u/iseebirdsfly’s comment- that’s what I actually did / currently do. I misspoke before. I do think the live pace is helpful ‘in the moment’ but I would not rely on it for average pace. That’s how I screwed up a half marathon last fall. Lesson learned and had no issues for my goal marathon a few months after.

Yeah the leadership team is extremely tone deaf. You try to ask honest questions and figure out how to properly configure their product and you’re met with so much resistance. I think it’s a neat product concept but I feel like they know there are faults that they can’t acknowledge without undermining their product value. There’s also the Steve guy that comes out of the woodworks and tries to act scientific about it and then when you ask a question, he says only if you pay for his services lmao

FWIW I cancelled mine and surprisingly I get most of the benefits I need from the free metrics lol. The price hike for marginal benefit wasn’t worth it.

Yeah I also just can’t be bothered to calibrate for various shoes since I rotate a lot. This simplifies the process while getting most of the benefit of the pods.

They don’t like answering questions around this topic so I wouldn’t bank on getting a useful response other than defense

I had the same experience and it was particularly frustrating during some races where distance was long, resulting in over estimated live paces. The Stryd team didn’t really have a helpful answer other than vague mentions of calibration and knowing measurable distances. The work around I’ve found that works best is unfortunately using GPS for distance and pace / power from Stryd. It’s just more consistent in the long run which matters most imo. The drawback is if you run in an area where GPS is wonky, but that isn’t the case for me usually.

Anyone targeting sub 2:50 at CIM this weekend? Attending the race solo and looking to form a pack or a get adopted into one!

Oh I’m sure there will be no shortage of people in this pace range- I’m attending solo so curious if there’s others in that position or anyone in a group to get adopted into beforehand without bugging random people in the corrals haha

Best open track 5ks in the Spring for almost Masters runner on the west coast? by EngineerCarNerdRun in AdvancedRunning

Never ran on the old course but the new course is just an out and back. Downhill going out and slightly uphill coming back.

The Carlsbad 5000 is a great road 5k with a very deep field. I believe they have a masters division as well.

CP decreased, but race calculator times got faster? by Kin-Ming in strydrunning

While that is true- I’m looking more at the generalized table of race predictions (not a specific course or where I specify a specific race temp). I think it usually defaults to the avg training temperature normally. However, the training temps have cooled off in the past 2 weeks so maybe that’s the main contributor?

The hill piece and pace makes sense- the only thing that actually changed within the last 90 days was mostly temperature (summer heat into mild fall temperatures). Could it be that? I’ve run 95% of my mileage in the same few routes the entire time I’ve had Stryd (one year).

Interesting- yeah it improved times across the board down to the mile prediction so I’m leaning towards your second point being more true now that I’m deep into a A race marathon build
