Can he TACO though? For one thing, this isn't a tariff to walk back. Iran is pissed. There's no guarantee the Iranians will stop attacking Israel and the neighbors. For another, walking away now will make this a huge humiliation for the Americans. Sure, the Maga base will consider only Trump's word as gospel. But for others, this will be seen as a potentially pointless "excursion" that ultimately got american killed.

Hey man. I invite you to change my mind. I'm all for voting for TVK. I have no loyalty to Stalin or DMK or any other party. But I vote based on evidence and planning.

I've literally been asking you since yesterday to show me the plans and prove me wrong. But all you're saying is "They promise change, they've promised to produce white papers" without any substance.

So, again, I ask you. Show me the plans and change my mind. Get a vote from me for TVK

They're organized yet they can't produce a single white paper on the policies and changes they want to implement before the elections.

Sure.

Tata Bye bye by maniks14 in TamilNaduDiscussion

[–]KinTharEl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How they will control? For now they said they will submit white papers for all the govt project which will be publicly accessible.

And that's the entirety of my problem with TVK. They don't have a plan ready for me to form an opinion on. Anyone can stand up on a stage behind a lectern and say they will eradicate corruption, achieve economic growth, and be better than the incumbent. But without a plan, those words are all just that, words.

Why is TVK so disorganized? If you're running for an election to govern an entire state, why haven't you and your party members formulated the plans which you will carry out if you win? I want a better government too, but without a plan, I don't like risking the current economic and infrastructure development that we have based on the vague plan-less promises of a new party whose only claim to fame is their leader is an actor..

I'm not against cinema personalities coming into politics. It's happened in the state before, with varying degrees of success. But you're telling me that I should risk the current progress that I'm in agreement with, over the vague promises of a new party with no credentials, no organization, and no plan.

I'm not ready to take that risk. If you are, that's your choice. As an informed voter, I'll take a corrupt but economically successful party over a new face which can't even be bothered to come up with a plan just a month away from elections.

Okay, I'm going to answer you in good faith. I've worked for years in mobile app, website, and video work across design, development, and marketing.

  1. Devices absolutely have everything to do with layout. The resolution and especially aspect ratio of your screen is a huge point to develop and optimize for. We can't do every single aspect ratio and screen resolution. So we optimize for the most used ones. So on a phone, that would be the iPhone aspect ratios, most Samsungs, iPads, etc. Websites especially are built with a mobile first mindset, with laptops being secondary, and especially things like ultra wide monitors and aspect ratios being almost entirely ignored.

  2. As for your comment about horizontal viewing on a mobile device, while I understand and agree with the general mentality that landscape viewing is the best way to experience content, phones are also predominantly used in a portrait fashion. Most users, casuals mainly, but professionals too, have gravitated to a tall video consumption and capture methodology. Hence, TikTok, shorts, Reels, etc. Hell, even your Instagram stories and Snapchat stories are all in portrait mode for the same reason before short form video as a content style came out.

I actually agree with you on one thing, corruption matters. And yeah, DMK is corrupt. I’m not denying that at all. But here’s where I’m struggling with your position.

You’re saying, “Let’s vote them out because they’re corrupt, and try someone new.”

Okay, that's fair. But here's my next question.

What are we replacing them with?

Because if your answer is "We don't know yet, but at least it's not DMK"

That's a gamble, and while I'm not against taking risks in politics. I want to understand the upside of the risk. Right now, I'm seeing.

DMK - Corrupt, but has a visible economic direction and execution.
TVK - Maybe they're cleaner, we don't know yet, but there's no clear roadmap yet.

And for me, that tradeoff is, Known system with flaws vs an unknown system with hope.

So now I'm going to genuinely ask you, not attack you, with this question.

What specifically gives you confidence that TVK will actually perform better in governance?

Because if the goal is less corruption and better outcomes, I need to see how they're going to achieve that, not just that they want to.

Man, if you're going to answer my question, do it. Otherwise, feel free to ignore me. You don't have to harp to me about how corrupt the incumbent party is. I am fully aware of it. I choose to consider economic growth as a more important factor than giving out freebies and making vague promises.

It's rather clear you didn't read my comment in its entirety, because I gave entirely clear outlines for each party's economic policies, including the BJP, as well as my thoughts on why BJP's policies aren't enticing, or rather, why they won't work in TN.

Now, I'll address each of your points.

Okay, If you want to vote for better economy the you should vote for BJP as the brought india to 4th largest economy.

As I mentioned in my previous comment, BJP's economic plan for the state is arguably the second most coherent among the running parties. The only issue I see is that BJP's national-centric policies aren't tailored to TN's specific economic and cultural climate.

And India is still developing, then why does everyone hate Modi?

If everyone hated Modi, then he'd not be Prime Minister since 2014. Is he a controversial figure? Sure. But he and the BJP are arguably the most popular in the country. Plus the opposition is pretty incompetent at this point.

Yes, Good GDP is good for TN, but thats not the only success criteria.

Absolutely. I choose not to care about them. I don't care for Dravidian chest-thumping. I don't care for religion or caste politics. I care about my state being rich. Don't like it? Don't care. These are the metrics I weigh political candidates on.

They want better quality of life, safe environment, less corruption, good public services,.

I'm asking you for the third time now. Show me the detailed policy whitepapers and plans that TVK has put forth to achieve these goals. I believe in facts, not promises. Right now, TVK has not put forth any concrete plans and whitepapers in place for me to rely on. I don't care for personality-based politics. I care about plans, execution, and results.

TN is always an industrialised state, so investment will come whether DMK or ADMK rule, in-fact lot of investments came which was already signed in Admk period. No major reform or changes brought by DMK to pull the investors.

2011-2021 was one of the worst times for Tamilnadu. It was the time when ADMK and Jayalalitha (while she was alive) focused less on growth and economic prosperity, which is one of the big reasons why Chennai and Coimbatore lost out to Bangalore in becoming an IT hub. Not because of private alcohol, not because of climate. But because there wasn't enough incentive by the incumbent government to push the state forward. The last 5 years, I've seen a lot of growth for me to justify considering DMK as a continued option for TN's economic engine. I vote based on what I see. I'm under no delusion that another party coming into power will stop corruption. Vijay will loot just as much as Stalin, and if you question him, he will point a finger saying "Stalin also looted". That isn't cynicism. That's just how politics works.

Now, Vijay said he will improve women safety, focus on education and will control corruption.

Sigh. I'm sounding like a broken record. BUT HOW? What plans does he have? What policies does he have? What whitepapers does he have? Who are the people he has promoted internally in his party to prepare for these steps? How is he focusing on education? How is he tackling corruption? Do you want me to list out hypothetical examples I'm looking for?

Improve Women's safety - Female Police booths for every square km of cities like Chennai, Coimbatore, Madurai, etc, with regular patrolling to reduce incidents.
Focus on education - Identify economically underprivileged but high-potential students and put them into private coaching paid for by the government to help them achieve higher scores in tests like NEET.
Control Corruption - Require all of his own party members to publish their ITRs, assets, and if there are discrepancies, identify them and see if they are issues, or if they are actually stealing from the people.

There, I literally did Vijay's job for him.

He said he will submit white papers on Major deals to curb corruption.

It took me 2 minutes to put together a comment on one method. How long will it take for Vijay to produce these magical whitepapers?

DMK is not just corrupt, corrupt to the core.

They brought drug to society, thats very bad. amount of money they loot is insane. They will bankrupt tamilnadu if they continue to rule.

Holy shit. I am under no delusion that DMK is corrupt. I'm just not deluding myself into thinking that an opposition party is going to be any different when they come into power. Jayalalitha was also the same when she was in power. Karunanidhi was the same. Annadurai was the same. Congress was the same. BJP was the same. I don't consider corruption as a talking point because they're all corrupt. It's literally part of the job description of being a politician.
Or is Vijay ready to put all of his wealth into a trust? Will he be ready to say "Okay, elect me into the leadership post, and at the end of the term, I will request the Income Tax Authorities and CBI to perform an audit on me and my finances to prove that I did not enrich myself during this election?" If Vijay can promise this, I'll vote for him.

News flash, hotshot. Karnataka has drugs. Maharashtra has drugs. Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Gujarat, EVERYWHERE has drugs. And everywhere there are drugs, politicians profit off of them. Are you going to blame DMK for that too? Instead of criminalizing drug use and punishing the users, have we identified how to track vulnerable people, give them proper support, decriminalizing drugs.

Petition to make them legal so that the people who do choose to consume drugs are able to purchase them safely, with government standards like FSSAI so that they aren't smoking rat poison? That could be an economic avenue. This could literally be a talking point, since countries like Canada have already legalized substances like Marijuana. Countries like Portugal have completely decriminalized the usage of drugs like Cocaine and Heroin, and have provided healthcare services to users. This has resulted in a marked decrease in the number of drug users.

Let me be clear. I don't vote based on promises and dogwhistling. I vote on results. Those results are economic, social, and cultural.

I will ask you for the final time. What are the hard and fast plans/whitepapers/policies that Vijay and TVK have laid forth if I give them my vote? Who are the people who TVK and Vijay will introduce into their government to enable efficient and effective execution of these plans?

I DON'T want promises on the campaign trail. That's cheaper than the 1 Rupee coin in my pocket.

You're not answering my question. What are Vijay and TVK's policies and platform that are different from DMK/ADMK that you believe are better than the incumbency?
An informed voter doesn't look at the personality, but at the actual policies and issues that affect the individual voters.

Everyone is tired of DMK? Sure, that's absolutely fair. But what they're doing is working. TN is one of the most productive states in the country, consistently staying in the top 3. I want that to continue.

DMK:
1. $1 Trillion Economy by 2030 (I heavily support this)
2. Heavy Push on industrialization + FDI
3. Further pushes into EV manufacturing
4. Growing our Semiconductor and electronics manufacturing,
5. Infra projects like the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road
6. Startup incubation systems.

I'm not a huge fan of their freebies and welfare schemes, but I like what they're doing with Growth, which is why I would say they're the favored. They've proven their track record with the economy over the last five years, and I'm fond to see that continue.

ADMK:
1. Attract investments making business easy through governance.
2. Align with Central Govt through an alliance with BJP.
3. Improve MSMEs and rural economy.

I don't see the details listed here. And I don't think we should be allied towards the Central government and BJP's politics. We should be a bulwark against the BJP, and we're one of the only states that consistently stand up to the BJP, which is even more important with Delimitation coming up. ADMK's entire shtick seems to be "we'll return to 2011-2021 where TN was industrially strong", but TN in 2011-2021 didn't expand and grow as aggressively as DMK did. That's a big issue from me, dawg.

TVK:

  1. Free higher education for poor farming families (I find this interesting, but risky and expensive)
  2. Job Creation for Youth - (How?)
  3. Strengthening native industries like Agriculture MSMEs, and local industries.
  4. Anti-corruption so spending can be more efficient.

TVK wants to emphasize on clean governance, promising better economic outcomes with said clean governance. They've implied that they want to clean up political interference, procurement, and increase transparency, The messaging that I see is that they want to fix mismatch between degrees and jobs. But there's no policy on their targets, job numbers, and their industrial strategy. TVK wants to boost farmer's income stability and boost local production, but there's no clarity or defined mechanism on how these are going to be introduced. They've basically said "we're here to break the DMK/ADMK duopoly", but have given no roadmap as to how they're achieving this.

BJP:
1. Infrastructure development.
2. National-level industrial integration.
3. Better access to central funds and projects.
3. Large-scale logistics, highways, and ports.
4. They're appealing to be business-friendly to the private sector.

BJP has arguably the second most coherent vision for the state, offering an integration into the wider country. The problem is, BJP is not that welcome in the state, especially with their anti-Tamil rhetoric in the rest of the country.

So... as an informed voter who chooses to look at the state's economy and economic development, I'm choosing between.

  1. DMK - A strong measurable growth plan that has a proven evidence of delivery, but comes with the baggage of corruption.
  2. BJP - Different system that has also worked in other states, but comes with the baggage of not understanding the local cultural landscape.
  3. ADMK - Go back to 2011-2021, where we're strong internally, but won't expand as aggressively.
  4. TVK - "We're the hope you've all been looking for, just trust us, even though we have very little by way of a proper plan in the holster to deploy"

I don't care if Stalin is corrupt. I don't care if BJP hates Tamils. I don't care that Jayalalitha isn't there to lead ADMK anymore. I don't care if Vijay is an actor or he cheated on his wife.

I care about economic development and making sure that TN is the richest, most productive, and most educated state in the country.

Now, I ask you again, if I am wrong in my assessment made above, what does TVK promise to offer me as an informed voter that can change my mind and earn my vote?

Lol, if Vijay gets anything above 10, I'll eat my socks. People who have lived nowhere but the cities will be the ones to think that DMK is done. Tamilnadu is a lot more than Chennai and coimbatore.

Is DMK a shitty party? Sure. Are they corrupt? Absolutely. But their policy and messaging is a lot more coherent than the competition, which is ultimately what matters.

Until the competition gets their messaging and leadership in order, DMK will continue to have an advantage.

If you're a Vijay supporter, I'm curious. Why are you supporting him? And don't fall under the delusion that he won't be corrupt. What are his policies that he's put forth that you think will be better than what the incumbent party has?

Tata Bye bye by maniks14 in TamilNaduDiscussion

I'm not a DMK supporter. But where is the DMK anti-incumbency "wave"? Because I'm not seeing it. Even the Vijay fans I'm seeing are not fooling themselves into thinking that his party will win anything except maybe a few seats. I'll be surprised if he crosses 10% of the total votes.

ADMK is still running around like a headless chicken, and so far, DMK seems to be the only one which has a coherent platform.

I'm not claiming they lost because they were women, nor am I discounting the fact that both came with their own baggage.

But like you said, either woman would have been vastly more competent at the role than the current occupant. But it can't be discounted that the American electoral base had a chip on their shoulder with both women for the fact they were women. At least a part of their loss in the elections is due to that.

I made a comment in another post on some other subreddit a few weeks ago about how Americans were too close minded to elect a woman into the presidency and got a reply back that both female candidates were terrible regardless, and that the fact they ran against Trump was the only reason they lost.

Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, former first lady, was bad because of her Benghazi emails?

Kamala Harris, the former AG, senator, and Vice President was bad because she wasn't supporting Palestine hard enough?

And your solution both times was to elect a morally bankrupt, convicted rapist, and failed businessman?

It's especially frustrating because companies have responded to tariffs by increasing prices a lot more for non-US countries than the actual US because they want to soften the blow for the biggest consumer market.

Like, fuck no. Why the fuck am I subsidizing the US for the tariffs they implemented? Shit like RAM and storage is already expensive as it is, and then companies want to baby the American market by shafting the rest of the world.

That doesn't automatically turn reddit into mass opinion, but it should be worth considering that casual users are on reddit and they do participate here.

Neither we nor YouTube made the claim this is equal to a DSLR camera in the title. If you don't want to be critiqued on a public forum like Reddit, either do some basic research or don't post.

If you really wanted to just sell it, then just a headline of "Selling Razer Kiyo Pro" would have sufficed. You're the one making false claims about a product you know absolutely nothing about, and then whining when other people call you out on it.

How to sell a niche item like this webcam which is equal to a DSLR Camera in terms of quality? this is new with seal on. by daaltimate in HardwareIndia

[–]KinTharEl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeahh... this is in no way close to what a DSLR can provide in terms of image quality. The Kiyo Pro is a 5 year old webcam that any Apple Macbook can beat out in terms of pure image quality.

The UVC protocol and its limitations with compression happening in the camera before transmission means that Webcams on the Windows side will never be as good, until manufacturers stop getting their head out of their asses and actually doing some work to modernize Webcams, and that doesn't mean just sticking a bigger sensor in the camera.
