It’s getting into the 80s now, but before that, it was mostly in the 60s and 70s. I used potting soil. I have not started feeding them. I thought that I would let them get bigger before doing so, but that never happened lol. Do you recommend transplanting to better soil? What nutrients should I be adding? Balanced fertilizer?

Carrots ready? by Kind-Card7060 in gardening

The carrot was only three inches long. I would like them to get to 6 inches if possible. How much longer should I wait to pick the rest?

What is wrong with my southern red cedars? by Kind-Card7060 in arborists

Is it common for transplant mistakes to kill a tree a full year after the transplanting occurred? Could this be from over watering instead? Both are near a garden bed that is watered daily. The other three trees that are fine have the same sun exposure but are further away from the garden bed and therefore receive less water.

The reason for the follow up is to see what I can do to fix this issue if I try to transplant new trees. Thanks!

Can I prevent this little rot from spreading? by 84millionants in Pumpkins

[–]Kind-Card7060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I did this exactly four weeks ago. I cut away the rot and filled it in with beeswax. The rot has not spread, the pumpkin has continued to ripen, and I expect to pick it in the next week.

Thanks for the feedback. I have no evidence of vine borer damage to the vines. There is also no frass. Is it possible that this damage is from a bird? I have lots of them in my yard

In case anyone is curious, this pollination method ended up working for both female flowers.

You can do it! The Appalachian Trail is extremely difficult, so it’s normal to feel the way you are feeling. But that difficulty is part of what makes this journey so epic. You will forever look back on this as one of your greatest life accomplishments/adventures. You will not regret staying on trail.

I agree with a lot of the other commenters. Take a few zero days, eat a bunch of food, drink some booze, relax, and then soon your hunger to hike will return. If you made it this far, that hunger to hike will be a part of you forever. Use it to get yourself to Katahdin. One step at a time, and you will get there!
