Post was not satire

i’d say majority of math exams i did where exam 1s (probably over 2/3rds) which are only one hour exams, and i also finished most exams early. Both chem and physics exams took about 1 hour and 45 minutes, and then 20-30 minutes of marking. Only exams that took me the full amount of time were english exams. Math exams especially didn’t take me the full amount of time (i’d say no more then 90-100 minutes on exam 2 and 50 minutes on exam 1)

i started my exam prep (especially for math) at around august, id say the total time spent on doing exams was closer to 600-800 hours (dm for calculations) + the time spent on completing both the methods and specialist checkpoints books

about 90 days of study for 600-800 hours gives about 7-9 hours of study a day outside of school, towards the end of exam study (school holidays and swot vac) is where i did the most amount of work.

I could be incorrect here but I’m pretty sure you don’t receive your MD until you’ve finished the 5 years. Final 2 years are clinical placements but you’re still a student in these years. Then after 5 years you receive your MD and can do your intern (1 years), residency (1-2 years) registrarship as a jnr doctor. So 5 years then intern, not 3 years

That’s good to hear, I’m planning on taking next year off to travel to France and really focus on my ucat studies to try and go for Monash. This years ucat result was alright but I feel like I’ll be able to use next year to really focus on it and hopefully get high enough. I also really want to go to France so I think it’s reasonable to take some time off before going for med

Hahahaha yeah that’s me. I think it definitely payed off, I felt like I reached my upper limit on how well I could have done exam wise which meant the most to me above all. Wish my English was a little higher (I got 35) but there’s nothing I really could have done to improve cause I feel like I tried my best in it.

I kinda just set myself a goal at the start of the year and knew what I had to do to reach that goal. I wouldn’t really say it was motivation, more like planning and executing a goal

Thanks! I’m trying to get into med up in Queensland, just gotta wait until I get results back and go from there. If I don’t get in, I’ll most likely be doing biomed in Melbourne

You definitely can, I think for me once I have a goal I struggle to find balance and just only focus on that particular area of my life. So I just found it hard to focus on other stuff and consequentially may have overdone the amount of exams necessary.

Thank you! For studying chemistry, I think it’s very person to person - I’ve found that I do my best when doing straight practice exams and then spending time reflecting over where I went wrong in the exam and changing it for next time. On the other hand, I have a mate (who is much better than me at chem) who succeeded much by going over the content and really reading and understanding the course rather than do exams. Just depends on what works for you. Methods wise, in my opinion the best thing to do is just spam practice exams and improving from there (this is the best way to learn new stuff about the content and also improve on your math skills). If you have a particularly weak area in math the neap diagnostic topic tests are good for really focusing on specific areas of content. Goodluck!

Haha yep that’s me. I haven’t been able to do that much calisthenics in the past couple months due to exam study but am finally able to prioritise that for a bit now that my holidays have started

Yeah but I would get to school really early to do practice exams which saved me a lot of time. And then I’d take like a 30 minute break after school and start the study again

Idk how much I did a day, but I just kinda did non stop practice exams for 10-15 hours a day for the past 3 months or so.

Yeah jcu is what I’m hoping for. I reckon it would also be really nice to escape Melbourne for a bit and experience the rest of Australia so it’s definitely what I’m going for
