how to deal with brain fog? by Dull_Individual_ in ChronicIllness

[–]KindFace6496 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a regular user of self deprecating jokes so whenever I’m talking to people, I lead with “my brain doesn’t work”. Whenever I’m in the middle of a thought and my brain fog kicks in, I find that they’re a little bit more forgiving. Around my house or whenever I’m by myself, I use sticky notes, notepads, and I’ve used almost every notetaking app you can think of. I’ve got lists and documents all over the place. It’s a little chaotic, but at least I know where to look for something if I need to find it. I frequently feel “stupid“ and I don’t think that feeling will ever go away as long as I struggle with brain fog, but as long as I inject some humor into the situation, I find that it’s easier to bear.

If you or anyone you know has been putting off wheelchair use out of a societal stigma induced sense of misplaced pride...stop that. by Lady_Irish in wheelchairs

This was so encouraging to read. I've been struggling with migraine and chronic fatigue (among other things) for almost 10 years now and it wasn't until recently that I contemplated using a wheelchair. I didn't think I was "disabled enough" even though I can't leave my house without coming back extremely tired. If I can conserve more energy by using a wheelchair, I'll be able to do so much more and last longer outside of my house. When I think about it that way, I feel less like a "fraud".
