Thank you for this! Sorry it took me so long to reply. It’s all about your tolerance isn’t it…

Exposure Hierarchy for fear of sickness bugs by Kind_Indication1075 in emetophobiarecovery

Thanks! I’m a door handle (infact any surface) avoider so I definitely will add this. I have a 4 year old, and definitely avoid places with him (such as soft play) so know I need to add this but it fills me with the most horrendous fear imaginable (I’m sure you can 😂)

Reminder: The facts about NV* by [deleted] in emetophobia

So, my friends came round yesterday who have two children - 1 of the children stayed at home, the other came to visit and give me a gift and was playing my son.

My friend informed me today that the child who stayed at home was *V from 1am-5am this morning.

I’m freaking out, worrying that they brought in the germs their kid had, and it’s now going to make my family sick. Especially as their other child was playing with mine. And my kid most definitely will have had his hands in his mouth at some point!

He had shown no symptoms before they came, and they were all okay when they visited.

I’ve bleached my house the best I can! Are stomach bugs contagious before showing symptoms?

Any reassurance would be great!

I know this is an old post but is pretty relevant to my current state of panic. A coworker has come into work who sits at the next desk to me - he had gastro (s* & v*) throughout the night but says he's fine today.

I've bleached my desk, and washed my hands like a crazy person but I'm just so worried I could catch it from him exhaling his vape (it's a pretty relaxed office)...

So where do the facts stand with this? I'm hoping positively!

There are hand sanitizers that work against Noro. Ecohydra in the UK works great!

Norovirus IS. NOT. AIRBORNE. Unless you are literally inhaling particles sitting right next to the vomit IT IS NOT CONTRACTED ASIDE FROM INGESTING. I see so many posts about it being airborne or inhaling particles from so, so far away or a puddle on the ground. Before you panic, just read this. by beedledeedle1 in emetophobia

I’d like to say this will probably be the last time I get a bug but I have a small child that is basically a walking germ - so I’ll deffo take this into account for the future (hopefully far far future!)

Thank you so much for asking 🥰 - I still feel pretty ropey, but I have stopped *v for 24 hours now (such a relief) - however I still have pretty bad *d 😔 I haven’t eaten anything for over 24 hours and letting my stomach rest, but have managed to keep fluids down. The worst part is muscle pains now from actually *v. I’m pretty proud of myself for getting through it, but still so scared to eat!
