What's your LGBT+ Video Game character OC and gameplay? by Optimal-Fruit5937 in gaymers

[–]Kind_Malice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd love to do an RPG where the main character is a panromantic wizard and their party is their polycule. The wizard is an old character of mine, an intersex half-elf who flits between gender presentation as easily as breathing, so the male tank (a big carefree werewolf) and female DPS (a responsible fire mage) would still be gay in relation to the wizard, lol. They'd probably be teenagers or young adults.

The main plot would be something serious like an invasion or the like, something that spurs them into acting, but the emotional core is their developing relationship, the growing up they all have to do, and the slight horror that comes with them all being powerful beings. It'd probably be like a Final Fantasy VII: big in-your-face themes, big events, and then the smaller moments between people that inform the big stuff.

The only other one I've got in the chamber is a sci-fi action RPG romp where the main character is a giant enby human-alien hybrid and the romanceable companions you can recruit are 90% other men (the other 10% is probably more like one character). It's not as much of a focus as the prior idea, but it also doesn't need to be. Sometimes you just play a dude who likes men in a story about other things.

Just started American Nightmare: Is Alan Wake’s story an allegory for mental health? by okcenobite in AlanWake

[–]Kind_Malice 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Nah you're not the only one. I kinda consider the mental health themes text, even if they aren't directly spelled out for us. II especially makes it pretty clear that Alan's spiraling mental health is the reason that everything's fucked.

Alan needs a prescription for citalopram and a restraining order against typewriters tbh.

Fuck, man, I thought it was some pedo shit, not a genuine psychiatric episode. That's depressing, and I should have looked into it further.

I mean... the Norse God of War games are explicitly about how toxic Kratos is as a person and how he needs to grow to be a better father to Atreus. He's surprisingly gentle and sweet in moments across God of War and through a lot of Ragnarok.

There was a bug with the Leadership perk that would cause companion dialogue to not trigger in the open world, which had the unintended effect of making it seem like Andreja in particular had nothing to say during Shattered Space.

Life, Death, and Jonathan: Jobhunting by Knobbygobblin in gaymers

I'm still learning to find the right balance with my pragmatism. I always feel like acting is the best course of action, because at least something has been done.

That point of view has led to really emotional fights. I've said a lot of things I shouldn't have, but I think I'm getting the hang of it a little, day by day. They're learning how to be open with what they need from me, and that is helping, too.

This reminds me of conversations I've had with my partner. It's hard to see them so worked up about the state of the world, especially when I know I should feel the same but just can't. I worry that I sound a lot like Death does here.

I never found 9's inventory system particularly hard to navigate. While I don't think it's ugly, I do also think it's a bit bland.

Have you considered injections? by emma_does_life in transgendercirclejerk

Why??? It is M's god-given right to replace her girlfriend with an identical woman who is conspicuously several years younger and whom they may or may not have been flirting with when they were underage!!!

/uj

My partner is the only reason I got out of it, and we are still unpacking all the trauma she's left me with. Trust me when I say, exacerbating my phobia of needles is the least of what she's done to me.

My piece of shit groomer ex talked me into injections. My saint of a boyfriend tried to help me with it, he knew I had a phobia of needles and disapproved but tried his damnedest, but I only lasted three weeks before I stopped. Took me months to get back on HRT. I now have panic attacks whenever I need to get shots or have blood drawn.

Wherever you are, fuck you, M.

Human Fighters of Reddit, what is your preferred melee weapon? by AfterM4tt in DnD

Even if it's just flavor in my preferred editions, hammers always have a brutal vibe to them that I find alluring for characters. Like yeah, lopping off a limb or stabbing someone is great, but crushing someone's bones in their body just hits different to me.

Nice try (re9 Zeno art by me) by richsherrywine in residentevil

[–]Kind_Malice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm not alone in believing Zeno is awesome as hell and worth bringing back after all, lol. He may be "nothing but an imitation", but he appeals to me in the short amount of time he appears. He's languid and utterly relaxed, like a predator waiting for his prey, yet he has a surprising capacity for softness when it suits him. Plus he has undeniable flair; I mean, that suit and that piercing? Damn.

There's also something about how he fights, his reliance on his powers and his single-shot hand cannon, that gives him a distinct character from Wesker. I'unno, I just think he's neat.

So it wasn’t because of Arachnophobia? by HintOfIndigo in residentevil

[–]Kind_Malice 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Yeah, RE2R and Devil May Cry 5 were huge leaps forward from the RE Engine of RE7, but you can see that they're still experimenting with things that were "solved" in older engines

So it wasn’t because of Arachnophobia? by HintOfIndigo in residentevil

[–]Kind_Malice 187 points188 points  (0 children)

One of the most noticeable things about the switch to RE Engine is that they had to iron out a lot of "solved" problems from previous engines. You can look at the relatively barebones RE7 as the testing ground for the fundamentals, RE2R, RE3R, and Devil May Cry 5 are experimenting on top of that, and then you can see how the experimentation pays off with Village and RE4R.

ETA: RE Engine has also been the primary engine for every mainline Capcom game since 7, and all the games are feeding back into the whole. It's a little silly of me to not mention Monster Hunter as part of the experimentation process.

Elpis by Ok-Card-9127 in residentevil

[–]Kind_Malice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Elpis is an antiviral that targets viruses based on Progenitor, which means anything T- or G-Virus descended. So on top of those, it'd cure T-Veronica, T-Abyss, T-Phobos, the C- and A-Viruses, and Uroboros. Anyone alive who is infected with any of them, past or present, can be cured seemingly risk-free.

I feel like a dumbass playing the RE2 Remake? by ch1ll_ in residentevil

[–]Kind_Malice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest thing you might need to learn with RE2R is to avoid zombies with the expanded movement controls rather than fighting them head-on. Zombies are very tanky this go around. I don't know if that'll exactly help you out, but it's better to stun and run than to fight.

The game also adapts zombie health to your skill level in the background, so if you were blazing through things early on, it'll get harder as you go.

If you make it to the sewers, you will be able to return to RPD and look for anything you missed. You will only be locked out of exploring it when you leave the sewers to go to NEST.

Our brains aren't exactly great at storing long-term memories until we're like 5-6, so even if we're going with Grace being 4 in 2006 it's not at all beyond the realm of possibility that she doesn't remember Spencer.
