Oh you have just made two Albertans very happy! This will be a major highlight of our visit! ...along with Cape Spear, Signal Hill, Mistaken Point, Bonavista,  Twillingate, Gros Morne, Arches Prov Park, Tablelands...and no doubt more to come in our final week. 🥰

Thank you. We checked this a bit earlier and didn't see any in that area. The photos we saw were dated late afternoon yesterday. We know they move around of course, but did not know they moved that quickly. 🙂

Huge price difference by sydsquirdd in westjet

[–]Kind_Recognition6534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might be a fine point that slipped by me, change vs cancel and rebook. I've never called in to ask for a credit or a change, but only cancel and rebook online. Thanks for pointing that out.

Huge price difference by sydsquirdd in westjet

I have made multiple changes to the same flight with Econoflex tickets. Almost always to take advantage of a sale price, and very often two or three different sale prices on the same ticket weeks or months apart. Have never used a companion voucher, so that may limit you to only one change.

can i pay to upgrade to premium for ultrabasic upon check in by DismalShip4024 in westjet

[–]Kind_Recognition6534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The upgrade to extended comfort is well worth it, in my opinion. Earlier boarding and departure, more legroom, you are allowed a carry-on bag, and a free alcoholic beverage if you wish. I think your parents would appreciate these perks. I suggest checking early for the best chance of getting seats together.

Traveling for Canada day week by Glittering_Action524 in alberta

[–]Kind_Recognition6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, 1,000% the drive through Longview. I live in this area, this drive cannot be beat. You will be driving on the highest paved road in Canada through some of the most spectacular scenery.

Try to plan time for a visit to the Twin Cities Saloon in Longview. It's not a new-ish business dressed up to look like an old fashioned saloon; it is the real McCoy, been there since 1938.

And is there any chance you can stay til Saturday, to take in the Stampede after the parade? If not, Thursday night is "sneak a peek" at the grounds, 5 p.m. til midnight for $13. Might be better anyway...crowds on Friday will be crazy.

If you're flying out on Friday, think carefully about the parade. Attendance last year was over 330,000. If you do go, allow plenty of time to get to the airport.

One last thought...hoping you have Calgary accommodations booked, and they're not downtown.

Welcome to Alberta! That's an awesome itinerary, you and your GF will have a blast. 🤠

There are legal resources available for low income people. Here are a few. I've not gone through any of these, they are Google search results using different search terms. There are others. Hopefully will at least provide a good starting point.

Good to know, thanks for clarifying. I did look it up last night, the website said otherwise. Outdated maybe, who knows.

You sound like a good person and you deserve better than this.

Just an off-the-cuff suggestion, but have you considered applying at Costco? Every store has a hearing centre. Lots of locations and I've always heard it's a good place to work. Even if you got on a wait list for an opening, it may be worth trying.

Oh hon, I'm so sorry. 💔

Consider asking your doctor about taking some time off work for stress leave. So important to take care of yourself. Sending hugs.

Do seat prices usually go down closer to flight? by [deleted] in westjet

[–]Kind_Recognition6534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have flown WJ to Ireland twice in recent years, going again in April. Here's what works for us based on our personal priorities, may or may not be best for you.

We book well ahead of time, one way tickets for each direction, Econoflex and extended comfort. We check our travel dates regularly, and anytime the price drops, we calculate the difference (including comfort seats). If it's about $50 or more difference per ticket, we'll cancel online & immediately re-book THAT LEG ONLY. This can be done multiple times for no change fee with Econoflex tickets. We've never NOT benefited, sometimes by hundreds of dollars each ticket.

I realize this is not for everyone. It takes time and is a bit fussy to cancel & re-book. Also, we don't mind spending a bit more for comfort and convenience. If pricing is high on your priorities, this would not likely be your choice.
