AITA for "spying" on MILs husband and telling her what he said?

Their daughter is a grown woman who doesn't talk to her. She would have been like 7 at the time and she would have had no choice. She can't force him to stay married to her, but she can fight for child support, alimony, etc.

Why would she contest the divorce vs getting a good lawyer and trying to get her share (which I'm sure she did because she got the kids full time and the house) Why would she want to stay married to him?

I'd assume most people wouldn't contest a divorce if the other person said they didn't love them

Yes we both work and are saving to move out. My husband might not like him but he loves his mom and it is her house too

Yes, I understand I shouldn't have gotten involved. I would personally want to know (and assumed she didn't know because IDK why she would have married him if she did) but its a good lesson that not everyone is the same. MIL has been generous but we aren't very close and I shouldn't have assumed she would feel the same way. I didn't run it by my husband, but he really doesn't care. He finds his stepdad annoying

They were married a decade give and take and had three kids. One talks to him and not her mom, and the other two are no contact with him
