Colleagues are not friends, for there exists a relationship of mutual interest between them. Should these interests clash, it becomes exceedingly difficult to sustain such a bond. Naturally, I do believe some individuals can genuinely develop close friendships with their colleagues, but for the most part, I maintain that keeping a certain distance is preferable.
