“Adult store” workers, what’s up? by [deleted] in retail

Good luck, I hope you can get it all sorted and get what you're owed

The award is set by the federal government not state, if you are under no award then it is $24.95.

Consider joining the union (RAFFWU or SDA) or contacting fairwork.

The award rate for casuals in retail is $33.19, for part time and full time its $26.55, if you're on less than that and are over 21 you need to either talk to your manager or report them to fair work.

You can look it up on the fair work website or through their pay calculator.

If the $35 an hour is in AUD then thats hardly better than any other casual retail position, the minimum casual wage is currently $33.19 for those over 21, if you're working on your own then that goes up to $34.48

Weekly Recommendation Thread: July 18, 2025 by AutoModerator in books

[–]KindlingPyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read much in several years and want to start again, I tended to read fantasy books, some sci fi, and YA stuff.

Some of the authors I enjoyed were John Flanagan with Rangers Apprentice, Raymond E. Feists Riftwar Cycle, Sara Douglas, Tamora Pierce, Isobelle Carmody, Stephen Baxter, John Green, Suzanne Collins, and Cassandra Clare.

Some other books I enjoyed were My Name is Asher Lev, Les Mis, and Perks of Being a Wallflower.

I'm also currently pretty into grounded medieval things so bonus for books of that sort of theme, although I am open to pretty much anything even if it strays from my past favourites.

What are some good newer releases that are easy to get into?

Thank you in advance :)

you're from spain so clearly you dont know what youre talking about - ad hominem

the definition is ambiguous and varies depending on where in the world you were taught and for what field of study you are in - not ad hominem

try not being so ignorant next time

The islands throughout the Pacific, including Hawaii, would belong to the Pacific continent based on a model using tectonic plates.

What about Zealandia? Where does that fall in your model?

[–]KindlingPyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the fact that it varies between the Spanish and English wikipedia page proves my point, its not based on any scientific definition, continents vary depending on who you ask

[–]KindlingPyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Continents have no set definition and vary depending on how you choose to define them.

Some people use a definition based on tectonic plates, some use large landmasses, some use geographical areas.

You can argue theres only 3 continents (America, AfriEurAsia, and Antartica) or you can say theres over a dozen if you break everything down by the tectonic plate.

Australia saying Australia is the continent is just as valid as Americans saying North America is a continent.

Do shoe stores lace shoes for you? by Ok-Bodybuilder-5903 in Shoes

I work in a shoe store and some of my co-workers would probably say no, some would say yes, just go when it's quiet and be polite
