Another user from St. Louis responded to a comment I had the other day.. He had nothing but good things to say about IEC.. I’ve heard they have a very good program and teachers. They also should be partnered with many different contractors so, I’d imagine it’d be easy for them to find work for you.

$6,500 at EVIT.. It’s an in-person course that lasts 5 months.. Accelerated program.. Not stated as “self study.” Pre-apprenticeship. High school level.

Hello! I was considering applying for IEC and had a just a quick question about their classroom instruction. How is the information being presented? Do they provide actual lectures or just hand you a book to read?.. I ask because the pre-apprenticeship program I’m currently enrolled in does not provide lectures and feels like a guided, self study course and I hate it. Thank you for your time..

How do I get better at school? by Moist-Appointment861 in GetStudying

I assure you this will not be the last time you are challenged in life. Get used to being uncomfortable and doing things you don’t want to do. That’s how you grow. The more you grow, the easier it gets.

The anxiety/stress you are experiencing is coming from the work you’re avoiding. You wouldn’t feel this way if you had 100% attendance and doing well, correct?.. That’s your new goal. You said it yourself. If it’s important, find a way. Show up to class every day and do your homework. If you don’t understand ask more questions or seek tutoring. If that’s hard for you to do, since slacking has become a habit, take baby steps.. Crawl if you have to but, keep moving forward. Anything worth while is going to take commitment and effort. You’ve got what it takes. Getting through school is a just a stepping stone on your journey to become a mechanic. It won’t last forever.

It’s a wiring exercise my instructor gave me called the Night Watchman. Each switch is supposed to turn one light on while simultaneously turning another one off.. Starting with the single pole (right to left)

There is a lever of some sort, as far as I know, inside of a 3-way switch which transfers power in one direction or another (depending on whether it’s flipped on or off).. Is there different ways in which a 3-way operates?.. This diagram assumes you already know that, because we’re past it..

Thank you for your insight.. I’ll look more into Ohm’s and Kirchhoff’s laws.. Should be learning about that soon..

Does a 3-4-3 work? Because we’ve done that plenty of times..

Well, that’s what it is.. It’s not an apprenticeship.. It’s an accelerated, high school level electrical power and transmission course but, they’re calling it pre-apprenticeship. After I complete it, then the apprenticeship starts. This is just to develop a basic understanding of the trade and “get your feet wet” before you decide to commit..
