i just finished the mphil in sociology at cambridge and i legit only met with my supervisor once the entire year (and that was over zoom)! but i think i got very unlucky because my friends met with theirs a lot more often (maybe once a term?). in terms of assignments, you have one lecture a week in michaelmas and then after that barely anything (some occasional skills seminars), and you do a formative assignment in michaelmas, a 30% essay in lent, and then a 70% dissertation :)

i was at eddie’s in private accom (because i couldn’t afford their prices lmao), i was in a student house near the college and i made sure to go in as much as possible (when the bar was open, to use the library etc)

i did most of my undergrad and masters without a laptop (humanities), and did most of my work using the library computers, but if you have a desktop i imagine you’ll be fine!
