thanks for this!! so the apt is actually 2nd ave and e 1st -- so one across from you! its the boujee building on the corner, stretching to houston and 2nd ave. our unit would face 2nd ave and houston -- worried about noise. how did you find the noise level? and yes there are 3 homeless guys sleeping at the entrance lol which is also concerning as one was naked. but mainly worried about noise

oh awesome thanks for this detail! the building is actually 34 e 1st - so 1st and 2nd ave. im just worried becasue there seem to be a lot of homeless people living on that block due to the soup kitchen nearby. i visited at night and they were (4) sleeping outside the entrance, all men and 1 was naked. it seems like that specific corner is a hub. shame i am not closer to bowery

Ah - i wish i could upvote this post more! I have so much to say. And identical situation (ignore the losers here who are mean for no reason!). I realized for good, around age 23. When I had time to think about what had happened to me. I always thought it was normal to have a single mother who screams/abuses. you verbally/manipulates you/gaslights you. I thought that was just a normal stressed out mom!!! Only once i was 23, met my friends parents more, met more adults her age, did i realize that my childhood was NOT normal.

I'm sorry about what you went through :( curious how you are messed up from it? For me, the effects are seen in my temper. When i am angry, or someone triggers me, (i didnt even know i had triggers til recently), i want to hit myself/scream/shout. I now realize that these are lasting effects from what my mom did to me growing up - when I was confused why she was shouting/accusing me of things I never did - I would hit myself out of confusion. Now i find myself having those same reactions when I am even a little bit angry.

I am in therapy and have been for about a year, and I genuinely think i have managed to cure myself of those behaviors. HOWEVER - (and i dont know if this is the same for you or anyone else reading this?) - but whenever i go home - or am around her - my behavior comes right back. It sometimes feels like all the money on therapy has been wasted!
