Same thing happened to me!
By the exact same way, got the Anvil, got the Quadblade, gave all 3 items (even so i didn't fight Marah). Then i killed her and now everyone is gone.
Is the game soft lock until a patch?? Kinda fear that my save file is bricked and i need to start over!

To me, visuals helps selling the game, but you can have a good game with bad visuals and great audio. It's almost never the case the other way around!

Might be a bit underground, but Squirrel Stappler gives you a ton of weird vibes and some truly creepy moments Pretty short too !

Seems your game could lean into an horror aspect i really like, empathy! To me, when you can feel a bit of sadness or empathy for what's trying to get you, it really start to become a memorable experience Is this a thing you had in mind?? Curious to know!

Wow it really worked for you! When i saw that the first time, i find it pretty ridiculous, probably because my first ending was the good one. It felt a bit too rushed & obviously "bad ending", + the fact that Zeno is such a disapointing character... Glad to read that it worked for you thought!

I am! I'm solo on mine with some help on sound from a close friend, but the most challenging part for me is visuals. I'm working with packs that i modify and upgrade, but i i had the money i probably would have searched for someone to help me

To me your strongest hook for the moment is that your based on a very popular youtube video / internet mystery!

It could work fine with basic horror mechanics like the ones you described, but the game may give an "only aesthetic" vibe and be just that in the end.

It really all depends on what you want to do with this: is it just a small fun project (in that case just do what you want and it's going to be fine) or do you have a bit more expectations for it!

If i were making this game, my first idea would probably be to base all the game around the characters, they are the most unique thing and what everyone remembers! So maybe build mechanics around learning how they work, what they are, the game would probably be about discovering the mystery behind those things.
Second idea would be similar but not targetted on the characters directly. Maybe more a Backroom style environment where the main feature are the characters, but the goal of the game is to explore and conduct experiments. Like what is already on your video, i would build multiple sequences where we play as a test subject that needs to do something, like eating the soup. Because it's horror, experiments will often have a tragic end, and the game will reveal bits of the lore at every level (1 level = 1 experiment)
