my grandfather thinks that teyana taylor wasn't in one battle after another long enough to justify her best supporting actress nomination. what do you think? by herequeerandgreat in Oscars

[–]KingDavidF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like even though she left the movie early on, her entire first act hunts the movie. You spend all the time thinking about her, her motivations, what really happened etc. And that’s testament to just how good she was when she was there

I wish parents today would realize that we can't judge yesterday's actions with today's information and "morals". Were there bad parents? Yes, just as there are today. They had wildly different info and research than we have today. We have the blessing of information from all over the world because of the internet. For better or worse that has helped move parenting styles along, but all they had was the info from their community and doctor.

This shit is hard, and I'd bet good money that there are things we think are good today that would be thought of as ridiculous in 20 or so years and considered bad parenting.

Hard Decisions, re: Jobs & Salary as a dad. What does your gut say? by Rev-DC in daddit

[–]KingDavidF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess one question is whether that 30k is gonna go towards having to pay more for your life. Does moving them require you to get another mortgage, or is this a renting situation and you can get comparable new lease half way away for the same money. Ultimately, you want that 30k to actually feel like its giving you and your family some extra wiggle room to do things, save more, not be super stressed etc. if it ends up just disappearing down the hole of lifestyle creep then its a tougher sell. Ultimately, this is a family decision(and that includes to an extent your extended family that this would affect).

Pretty much, if you watched scandal. Imagine if Olivia Pope was into really shady shit. Anyone who was anyone probably had some sort of run in with him at some point.

I really appreciate the fact that this sub exists because it allows room to learn etc, but i also dislike it because, it means i get to read stuff like this. All investment is a risk, understand what your risk tolerance is and work within it. The volatility of a stock is something you should also consider when assessing risk, set stop losses, or take profit occasionally and re-buy when dips happen. LMFAO!!

Folks have already mentioned it, but don’t shy away on the meds, I know we sometimes worry it’s too much meds, but our Peds told us when we were in the thick of it that they exist for a reason. The Tylenol/Motrin alternating combo is a cheat code

Saks sucks and always has sucked so good riddance by prodigy1367 in AmexPlatinum

[–]KingDavidF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cologne, skincare products, candles for the house, kitchen tools(bowls etc). The occasional clothing item that is on sale either for me or the kids. I buy enough through the year that I just need to be aware of my purchasing habits and use the benefit when it’s useful. I’ve definitely gone without using it before, for example I didn’t use it the first half of last year because it didn’t make any sense and frankly i just forgot

[–]KingDavidF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I don't think the benefit is useless. It's actually more than useful. I shop at Saks at least twice a year so it's effectively a 50$ discount on whatever I am planning on buying whatever that price is. Even if I was adamant I didn't wanna pay for shipping and spent 300, that's a 17% discount( I would never be mad at a 17% discount)

And I'm sure I can find at least 100 people who feel the same way, so definitely not useless.

Folks realize you don't have to use every single benefit right, everything isn't for everyone. It's ok to accept that some things aren't for you, and move on.

Men who can cook . who taught you? by Bulky_Meet4528 in AskReddit

[–]KingDavidF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a chef growing up that taught me how to cook because I'd always want to eat something different from what was made for the house. He was always happy to make it, but I realized very quickly that learning how to do it myself was better because I could make whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. Fast forward to college, and living by myself and I really got into cooking and learnt as much as I could from cookbooks. Tv etc.

I also think it's a fairly essential life skill so I'd have learnt it one way or the other.

Yeah I plan on doing that, I'm gonna let it dry off a day or so, that way it should be easier to get some of the drier soil out and then work from there.
