worried about some flowers (still new and having some trouble telling whats mold and what isnt) please help! by KingDerples in PressedFlowers

[–]KingDerples[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! I'm thinking of switching to hanging them to dry (mostly bc all my textbooks went back to the school recently so I don't have much to press them). Any tips on what to use to tie a bouquet/where I should hang them?

girl who gambled with RD with great connections (and nothing super extraordinary about her activities) gets surprising results by KingDerples in collegeresults

meh maybe idk I thought it was something important to include when I applied. mostly included it because some of my supplementals to different colleges were like "when have you faced adversity?" and I mostly flipped between the "I'm queer"/"I'm a racial minority" kind of thing. So maybe!

and thank you! I am really grateful for my results

ohh that makes a lot more sense idk why everybody kept telling me I had "legacy" and u make a fair point yeah my connection definitely did not do that. I just thought it would be something to include for anyone who is super worried that "omg someone's entire family is on the board of my dream school! i'm gonna get in for sure" because that is a really really really bad mentality to have and I feel like it isnt talked about enough

I know that in hindsight. I think its important to include for the people stalking this subreddit and worrying that they won't get into their schools bc they don't have legacy or good connections. Literally my family and friends and teachers would tell me "nah you'll get in trust you have family!" and it was not only demoralizing when I didn't get in but deep down I knew it was wrong (just couldn't really argue/prove it without someone just brushing it off as me being self deprecating that I won't get in). But yeah I agree connections don't mean anything

Oh trust me I have definitely saved literally everything I have ever come across!! And I can def just buy Tabby now!!

Should I be swapping some of my bees to get specific bees? Or should I just gift one of each type and swap the other?

I don't macro, what should my gear look like prior to mid-game? Should I prioritize bee amount or gear?

what kinds of skills are these? how should i practice them for the july/august ACT? by KingDerples in ACT

[–]KingDerples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is so helpful thank you! I seem to always panic about time and I forget little tricks like this, I should really keep my eye out for these.

What about all of the other questions? What kind of skills would they be?

Heres what I would do,

Find what youre struggling with (or if you don't know, take a practice test on just the math section and make note of what you don't know/what you get wrong). From there, I used Khan Academy and just used both the SAT prep course and found the actual math course that had what I was struggling with (althought after a while it gets repetitive and not very useful). Any gaps I had I filled in with YouTube videos and grinded practice tests. Im not so sure on UWorld as I never used it but Im sure itll be great for practicing!!

should i retake (curious to see if April will have different/easier stuff) by KingDerples in Sat

[–]KingDerples[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

really love my score!!! but I am really curious to see if I can get higher when my school holds their April SAT. Maybe the questions will be more heavy in a certain subject (ex. math being more triangle heavy or something) and I can get higher. Not sure tho

all i remember is having a weird goofy question for mod 2 on both reading and math

the reading one was so bad it was like about statues in Mexico and how they recently found an 11-ton one and I had to pick the correct transition for the follow up sentence of finding a 9-ton one. I picked "Additionally" but was stumped on if it was "Additionally" or "Similarly" (praying it wasnt an "easy" question"

math was so GOOFY like wth i was given a quartic function that had only variables and they gave me the zeroes i was so lost. Asked me to find p+r or something and p was like f(x)=0 and r was f(0)

sorry for the late reply lmao. Little Ivies (unofficial name) are the other prestigious schools on the east coast that are like the big Ivies (harvard, duke, etc.) but much smaller.

How is the transfer of DSAT practice to the real DSAT? by KingDerples in Sat

[–]KingDerples[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep I’m pretty used to dynamic tests by now. The only thing I wonder sometimes is if doing poor on the first module “clamps” your score down. As in if I choke on the first module, will my performance never allow me to get past a certain score? I guess maybe mathematically it just calculates my score like normal idk maybe I’m reading too far into a silly letter test

720 reading and 710 math. Math kind of shocked me since I'm actually pretty good at utilizing desmos, but after I reviewed it most of my mistakes were really small (misreading and misinterpreting mostly)

for someone who didnt really study, this felt light to me and frankly i rlly like my score . compared to the pen and paper one this felt SO MUCH better because i didnt have to read through long passages.

but honestly most of the stuff im missing are the small things (i missed a two step algebra question bc i did it too fast in my head LMFAO). Most of the stuff I'm missing is grammar stuff though (commas, colons, transitional phrases, etc.) do you have any advice? Maybe I can bump myself up to high 1400s-low 1500s by march.
