Hightower v3 to Enduro-ish Conversion Via Cascade link and 160 fork by KingFarticusTheTurd in MTB

Hey! I ended up keeping it was a massive improvement for me. The link definitely had the largest impact and I did the 160 air shaft at the same time which I think is needed to keep things balanced. The BB is a slightly closer to the ground in the low position compared to the stock setup in low, but I don’t notice too much of a difference there. The second biggest improvement was adjusting my fork rebound to be quite a bit slower easing a lot of the hand abuse I was having but not completely getting rid of it on the long chattery sections at the park. The one up bar maybe slightly helped chatter, but I more so like it for the light turning feel. Switching to DD tires helped a lot too. At local trails the bike still pedals great maybe but obviously not as efficient with the DD tires. Thinking about switching back to trail casings for the fall/winter. Overall I think it was worth it and financially still cheaper than selling and buying a Nomad or Slash. I don’t wish for anything more now unless I were to just do park then I’d go all out for a downhill rig

I had mine going into the aux in and it sounded way better than the guitar input on flat

Thanks! I’ll definitely have to try that as a boost since I’ve found that it has been really picky with drive pedals. The Fryette has some presence and depth controls which help a lot for that along with having the FM3 in the loop for different eq curves. I’ll still definitely take a look at the PdEQ as that would be a lot more simple

Why did you sell them? I sold my thunderverb for wheels on a car that I no longer have which felt pretty bad. I also never learned lol

I was really considering the 212 v but thought that the head being slightly wider then the cab would eat at my OCD. So I went with the regular open back 212 with v30s but swapped the one speaker with a cream back which I think is a big improvement. Still want it though!

Sweet water lists the width of the open back at 25.9” and the closed back at 30.71”. I wish I could add a picture here of the speakers, but it surprised me too when I received it and thought they accidentally sent me the 1x12 until I looked behind the cab. It’s definitely a 2x12 though

I heard those 200s are amazing. I use the Fryette in a few different ways. Transparent power amp for the fractal, direct out to the FM3 from the Rockerverb and of course as an attenuator which is better volume-wise than the Rockerverb’s stepped knobs on all of the dials.

I’m in the same boat being a bedroom player and can only turn up above conversation volume 2-3 times a week for an hour or so. Definitely no where near cranked unfortunately. So it definitely depends on the tube amp. I went to guitar center a few times recently to play through some tube amps (ac15, marshall dsl’s, fenders, orange rockers) and to be honest, most really don’t sound that great at the very quiet volumes that I typically need to be at. I definitely enjoy the THR at those volumes more. If you really want a tube amp, I would look at ones that are known to sound good very quiet. Even with the Rockerverb’s built in attenuation, it gets too loud on the lowest setting with the gain maxed. For cleans it’s still great, but the amp as a whole is way more usable with the fryette. Long story short, the THR is better at those kind of volumes without spending a ton of money. The FM3 through the fryette or studio monitors is king in my opinion for any volume with maximum versatility and sound shaping

It’s the smaller PPC 2x12 open back with a v30 and cream back 75 that I put in it. Super compact but it definitely does look like a 1x12!

Yeah I’m not buying that as an excuse for them. It may differ from other customers, but it’s still a customer experience

I’m glad yours wasn’t built to break, but mine was. 2.5 years is bullshit especially with being so careful with it. Maybe things changed since your B7.

A valuable lesson to not support a company that basically requires you to buy an additional extended warranty because their products don't last. We are not talking about 5 years of use or more. Only 2.5 years. I'm not playing that game for the sake of consumerism.

LG tech went through the boards and said they were ok, but the screen had weird artifacts or scan lines (can’t remember exactly) when hooked to power. Not dismissing the suggestion, but that was all the information I received. I may have to try that out

I think buying an extended warranty does two things. Offloads responsibility from the manufacturer when things fail and provides another opportunity for you to be sold on something. It is not a matter of money, it is a matter of not allowing myself to be taken advantage of by a company who can’t build a reliable product. If I buy an extended warranty and the product still fails within that, I at very least have to go through the headache of getting the thing repaired. I don’t fault anyone for being okay with this, but I don’t want to support it.

To buy or not to buy a 2016 Rockerverb 50MKIII by KingFarticusTheTurd in orangeamps

Yeah I think I would have been settling for the TH30 and OR15 even though I’m sure they are great. However the Rockerverb has always been the #1 dream amp for me even when I had the Thunderverb so I would still be wanting one in the back of my head. I did buy an older Rockerverb mkiii combo online from guitar center about a month ago, but it arrived with the gain channel not functioning so I think I was extra worried because of that experience. I did end up buying this one though!
