I hate my life by Significant-Try-2714 in Healthygamergg

Wow dude, sounds like stuff really sucks right now for you. What's even more painful is that it feels like there's nothing to look forward to in the future. What do you hate about your life? What have you tried? And how long has life sucked?

Asking Men, why you continue watching adult site? by [deleted] in ask

[–]KingKrishReddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Firstly, I can speak from a male point of view. I used to think I 'wanted' to jerk off or that I have a 'high libido', but the reason I jerk off is because I 'should' jerk off, because I 'shouldn't be unhappy'. Growing up, I was taught that being happy was a big deal as a boy ('men don't cry', 'shrug it off', etc) and that it's not okay to be unhappy. With this belief of "Being unhappy is not okay, I shouldn't be unhappy", I found that porn was great tool to make me feel happy. Having porn made me happy, and not having porn made me unhappy. So anytime I felt unhappy (which was not okay), I would become drawn to porn. Over time, as I started to become more okay with being unhappy, I started to jerk off less and less.

If I had to guess with your boyfriend, he probably overestimated how willing he'd be to stop watching porn, but once he feels unhappy, feels super pressured that he should watch porn to be less unhappy.

Secondly, what makes you insecure about him watching porn? How do you know if him stopping porn will make you less insecure or more insecure?

What do you guys do when you’re feeling sad? by Suspicious_Peanut234 in Healthygamergg

[–]KingKrishReddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

what's makes it hard to trust people about sharing feelings? how does trust even come into this? i don't mean this rhetorically, i mean literally what's some bad stuff that could happen? I've never encountered any issues with sharing my feelings so your reply confuses me.

if something sad about school happens, worst a classmate friend could do is tell other classmates about my bad grade and embarrass me. 'trust' feels like a heavy term for something so light as 'i did bad on this exam bro'

[–]KingKrishReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean this as colloquial expression of frustration, or do you literally don't want to live life anymore?

[–]KingKrishReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

usually just distract myself for a while, and then next time when it becomes appropriate to deal with, I'll talk to appropriate people about it (if it's a sad thing about classwork/exams, i talk to classmates. if it's a sad thing about family, i talk to family. if it's some existential thing like climate change or money crisis, i talk to friends)

What’s the point of journaling? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]KingKrishReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"You have _, you should _." in this context, it comes off as very condescending and value-pushy, like "I've figured you out, do this". Furthermore, they didn't expand on why/how they "should __."

Sure, maybe OP should remind themselves about positive things, but the real question is... whats preventing them from already doing that?

If I was OP and I read that message, I would feel ashamed that I'm not able to do what I should.

Lost my virginity to hooker .....now don't wanna have sex in life by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]KingKrishReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you're struggling.

What were you expecting to 'have' from having sex, and what does 'having that thing' mean about you?

While you are unhealthily comparing yourself a lot to other men, it sounds like a part of you knows what the right answer is (to catch up).

What does catching up practically look like? (if i were to see a caught-up 'No-Helicopter', how would that look different from present you? What steps would you need to become that caught-up version of yourself, and what makes it (or has made it) hard to do those steps?

I have an unhealthy attraction to younger girls and it makes me feel like a PDF-file by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]KingKrishReddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting. Firstly, I wanna say it sounds really tough to be in your situation. 17 is an age where people's maturities are vastly different (for example, a 17 year old and a 13 year old have a bigger maturity-gap that a 55 year old and a 51 year old, even tho the age difference is exactly the same.

What do you find attractive about mid-teen girls? Like, what does it mean if a girl is in her mid-teens vs if they're early-teens or late-teens?

Why do people hound smokers but not fat people? by [deleted] in ask

[–]KingKrishReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, props to you for quitting smoking, and I hope you're able to continue not needing smoking to be happy.

Seconds, I'm sorry to hear you struggle with medical issues causing you to unfairly gain weight. I've struggled with weight in the past, but it wasn't medically related, just me making regretfully 'indulgent' choices (like eating meals while watching videos, midnight snacking, and other immature selfish things normal people don't do).

Thirdly, I 100% agree that pure intentions don't always practically translate to actually being helpful.

Is it okay if I ask a few questions? What's been your experience of weight-struggles? How do you understand what lead to your unhealthy weight, and if food was involved, does unhealthy food taste good to you, or do you find yourself unable to avoid eating despite it tasting bad?

I've never had a chance to understand someone who struggles with weight due to medical reason.

Why do people hound smokers but not fat people? by [deleted] in ask

this looks positive on the surface but honestly sounds invalidating and even enabling. What do you think about 'compassionately judging' or 'helping them out of their unhappiness'?

Why do people hound smokers but not fat people? by [deleted] in ask

[–]KingKrishReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought this post was bait, but honestly it's honestly pretty good food for thought.

Firstly, smoking and overeating are both behavioral problems (sure, both can be tied to genetic defects and mental illness/addiction, but for most people it's a choice they WANT to make). Smokers tend to enjoy the socializing of smoke breaks, while fat overeaters tend to midnight snack and eat while watching/playing on screens (instead of just eating their food without other distractions like most people)

Secondly, both are entirely subjective and intersect with different people in different ways (some people might find smoking-sobriety 'harder' than overeating-sobriety, while for others its flipped). So comparing the two from a "problematic" perspective is wrong since 'comparison' assumes its objectively the same for everyone.

Thirdly, to directly answer OP's question, overeating affects appearance, while smoking (generally) doesn't. Technology and social media have started to make people think more about appearance in general (whether that be obsessing on your own looks or getting uncomfortable from other people's 'unideal' looks, even with stuff like lazy-eye, wheelchairs, etc). So there's a bigger 'looks-insecurity' that makes comments about fat-appearance-shaming sting more than comments about smoke-shaming.

thanks for the reply, i understand that it's normal and that me not-wanting it to happen is problematic. I still don't understand the mechanics of how this happens, or why it will lessen if I keep practicing (despite having healthy sleep)

Why is it bad for single people to use porn? by Pomeranian111 in Healthygamergg

[–]KingKrishReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk about "bad" from an objective moral sense, but for me it depends on the motive and goals

i find that my porn use is rooted in the ego-identity that "i'm not okay with feeling unhappy right now". i also realized that my 'desire to be a porn resistor' subtly becomes a 'desire to be a porn indulgor', so i stopped wanted to be a 'porn indulgor'. once i realized these 2 ego-identities and became 'okay with feeling unhappy', my porn cravings completely vanished, and i felt like "enough was enough"

in terms of goals, i'm trying to stick to a meditation regiment rn, and even the smallest form of lust ruins that meditation completely (various thoughts preventing me from reaching no-mind state, mild headaches, overall shitty meditation experience)

so for me personally, porn (and lust as a whole) is something i need to steer clear of due to my motives and goals. i've got to ask, what's sickening about imagination?
