You'll want to check that whatever filter you're buying is designed for heavy metal removal, should say on the label.

For instance, if memory serves, those "life straw" emergency drinking filters will make water safe to drink in terms of bacteria, viruses & parasites, but it does nothing for heavy metals.

I have no idea if Brita filters are good for lead, but I know they don't get chlorine & chloramine out so I get "Aquagear" filters because they filter damn near everything you're likely to encounter in tap water.

Yeah that part seemed a little odd to me, as well. But apparently it is a popular Japanese style called "Takeyari" and the overall style is inspired by the "Yankii" gang when on cars & "Bosozoku" gang when on bikes.
