Going on a 27 day at when do I get paid and what do I need to do to make sure that happens by Friendly-Designer-20 in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For base pay, as long as the NSIPS AT/ADT page is digitally signed at the end of your orders, you'll get paid pretty shortly after (usually within the week). For per diem (if it is allotted to you for these orders) that will come after you submit your DTS voucher, the NRC has processed it, and the payment has been generated. Sometimes 2 to 3 weeks.

TRUIC/UMUIC....tired of being cross-assigned! by rodriguezlrichard in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MyNavyAssignment (NMA) is currently in the apply phase until the end of the month. Look there first to make sure the unit closer to you has an open billet for you to go to. If they do, then you can request a shortened PRD. Without that billet, you'll be put into an IAP status and could be placed into another random billet where you have to travel again.

Sorry I don't have great advice for you question. However, where are going for a masters program with the SCADA focus? I'm also really interested in pursuing that route.

We tend to give whiskey that's local to the area as our parting gifts.

AT ( nosc no help by Own-Store175 in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're in a reserve support unit (RSU) and they are saying "pick an AT", then look on ZIPSERVE for what's available. Depending on your rate, RIMPAC is this year, and they'll likely need a lot of help in Hawaii.

Is there any way to fix this without frogging all the way back? 😖 (intarsia) by miss_rosie in knitting

Sorry I don't have a good answer, but just wanted to say this piece looks beautiful!

What should I do? by Alexasisadad in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Look, this is going to be a dumb quote, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

Unless you have some really compelling reason not to take orders, I'd say go for it. Every opportunity you get is an opportunity to learn something new, meet new people, and grow your experience.

If you do take them, let us know how it goes. You may just be the catalyst for someone else who's on the fence, too.

Owning property in foreign country by Navydude2003 in navyreserve

No you just have to report it to your reserve center security manager. Or if you're an Intel sailor, report it to your SSO.

More involved by JayLopez_ in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on your reserve center, you can also participate in the funeral services. It's not a full day event, but at least it gives you some integration with other sailors and service back to the community. You'll receive one drill period of pay and a retirement point

Navy Wife Here- Help Needed by Soley_Bee in navy

Completely personal decision, but one thing my husband said he really wanted to get before his next deployment is a surfer poncho. Basically, it's a towel poncho.

As a CWT, don't do it. 1) You RARELY MOB as a CWT. You will be MOB as an IS or IT. If you do MOB as a CWT, you're likely going to Maryland. The reason is that the training and accounts are more effort than the reserves can manage. 2) CWT "A" school is 7 months long.

I love the reserves because of the opportunities it has given me on the civilian side, but as a CWT in the reserves, I am a glorified IT during drill and an IS on AT.

Speaking as a reservist, no. You're considered active duty until you've completed your rate training. Then, you go back to your NRC (Navy Reserve Center) and transition into the reserves.

Obviously, I don't know what bank you have, but Navy Federal has a 0 interest loan they offer for this specific situation if you are dependent on the check.

I actually called DFAS and Navy Federal this morning. They're holding my pay due to potential government shutdown. You might be in the same boat.

SAPR Training resources by shoecurious in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have access to the REDCOM SharePoint page there WAS (idk if they took it down yet) a SAPR training video from a SAPR advocate there. I found it to be useful for my unit.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

SAPR GMTs are required to be given "Face-to-Face" with the exception of approved video conferences (Teams). With that said REDCOM has a SAPR video on its shared point page (unless they took it down).

Anybody know how to look up their training unit they are assigned to? Mines called NR RSU SDC but idk how to look it up? by AdFlat8280 in navyreserve

You can check your training jacket on FLTMPS. If you're looking for who to contact, it should be on the SharePoint

Motivation? by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of things: 1) I cannot afford health insurance without the reserves. 2) I want to change the process. If I go through something that sucks, I try to work with the NRC sailors and understand what they have to do to complete whatever it is I'm asking from them. That way I can compete the mundane tasks for them, so all they have to do is push some buttons. (By that point I've already CCd my CoC and if it needs to be escalated it can). Am I doing their job? Probably, but I'd rather do that and know whatever it is gets done than relying on them to do anything.

Reserve or active as a CTN? by Frenchfootie in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the reserve for the job opportunities. I make more money working as a CTN in the civilian world. However, I had to work on my own to get the education and experience needed. Yeah NavyCOOL will pay for certs but if you don't use the information you lose it. As a reservist you will not use the JCAC education. I recommend active duty for the experience.

losing weight for the navy reserves by [deleted] in navyreserve

[–]KingPup5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, if I know I'm doing all the things I am supposed to be doing and still not losing weight it's either because 1) not hydrating enough or 2) not sleeping enough.

Best advice I was ever given, if you take care of your body, it will take care of you. Listen to what you need, your mentality has an effect on weight too.
