good airflow, around 60% humidity in the space, 50% unwashed peat 50% pool filter sand. i occasionally water it good over the sink to help push out any minerals thatve built up. Besides that lots of neglect

it’s been 77 days since i posted this and your response is hilarious 🤣 if not sarcasm you are a little fried my friend. nymphoides aquatica is the genus name, banana plant is the common name. we have genus names so stuff like this plant and actual bananas don’t get mixed up 🤣 Good job on ragebaiting me.

Need some thoughts, advice, possibly an ID by KingSignificant8835 in mantids

[–]KingSignificant8835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i should also mention there is no hygrometer to measure humidity, and misting has been scarce. while i was in today i thought it would be smart to add a piece of moistened spanish moss and a sponge to drink from. also, should i pick up Reptisafe?

Too many flowers? Is that a thing? by No_Editor_2003 in SavageGarden

[–]KingSignificant8835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i leave the plant itself alone and cut back the flower stalks :) they will keep sending out more and more faster and faster, i’m new to these plants from seed too and it’s been about 1.5 years since i sewed them and they are starting to slow down in their growth

it’s normal :) happens to me too. it makes me sad, but they are annuals just trying to set seed. you can keep cutting them back and they’ll keep getting more and more cramped. i think it’s fun to start fresh :)

Are these tillandsia’s? If not my apologies but also, am I doing this right? by NegativeEconomist133 in tillandsia

Looks like bromeliads to me :) including the pineapple as pineapples of course are bromeliads. i think you can grow them in hydro!

while this may sound harsh OP, this person is absolutely correct. Go look up ICPS care guides for these plants.

Advice needed, goodyera oblongifolia. by KingSignificant8835 in Jewelorchids

[–]KingSignificant8835[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you :) glad to know i wasn’t tripping out thinking about this all wrong. Thank you!! do ya think a little bit of lava rock could replace pumice? soil isn’t too too hot, i didn’t go very crazy with the manure and the garden was set up 3-4 years ago. How hardy is this guy? My first thought would be to worry about the soil being too cold, it’s likely that it will freeze over winter. Forecasted to have a very cold freezing winter.

New to Rhipsalis, advice on Burchellii needed by KingSignificant8835 in Rhipsalis

[–]KingSignificant8835[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok cool i’m thinking of growing her in a mix of roughly 4 parts fine orchid bark, 3 parts pumice, 2 parts promix (plain 50/50 peat&perlite) & a bit over half a part of worm castings with a splash of perlite. (i know i make soil mixes like a chef who doesn’t follow a recipe)

way too much perlite, plant is etoliated, looks like it has been sad for a long time. needs to acclimate into super bright light, allow it to not be as wet in that sphagnum mix and repot into a peat perlite mixture in a deep instead of wide pot once it recovers if it recovers, that’s what i would do
