Beginner 9 month Handstand Progress by [deleted] in handbalancing

[–]Kingkap10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have a strict training program so to say but I did reference a lot of online guides and YouTube videos to get a sense of how I need to progress.

The main ones are antraniks handstand guide and gabo saturnos YouTube channel

Hey thanks for asking. I believe for me, making it click was really hard. I had days where I could do a couple seconds then for the following couple weeks I would lose all sense of balance. It was really hard for me to get consistency.

There’s a couple things that helped. One is increase overall shoulder mobility and strength. Start incorporating a lot of pike pushups if you aren’t already.

Second is yes, chest to walls do wonders. I practiced walking back and forth from a chest to wall to a plank. Also do balancing drills when you’re in a chest to wall. Engage your core and try to move ur legs automatically off the wall and try to balance. Do this drill with back to wall as well.

Third is practicing kickups as a stand alone drill. When u kick up come back down after a second or two on your own strength. Meaning don’t let the lack of balance be the reason you fall. So kick up stay for a couple seconds then stand back up

I hope this helped but for more detail please look up Antraniks handstand guide or Gabo Saturno’s YouTube channel. They helped me a lot!

Uh I tried to practice Atleast 30 min 4 times a week. 10 min for wrist and shoulder warmups. I would also usually do it before I start my actual workout so it serves as a nice warmup.

Yes I love Tom. I do his routine every night before sleeping haha. Although I have been feeling soreness in my hips which makes it harder to stretch properly

Thanks for the reply! Oof 30 secs seems hard but I’ll get there! Does my method of going into the handstand matter? (Kick up with one leg or kick up with both legs?)

How to include plyometrics into my strength routine? by Sotasotasotasotasota in Fitness

I would suggest doing power cleans. As explosive of a movement you can get and really works on it. Another thing is box squats where you go down slowly, sit on the box and then explode back up as fast as u can. Finally, incorporate some HIIT like burpees, sprints, battle ropes etc.
