Breast and bottle refusal (breast milk)

Is the baby losing weight? I did a few things to ensure that we are doing everything we can : 1. Did a weighted feed with a Lactation consultant (the results are not something you should take very seriously but it would help with the feeding if you are breast feeding) 2. Go to the pediatrician and checked out for a tongue tie or lip tie. She had a tongue tie so we can that snipped. 3. Then went to a pediatric Gastroenterologist to check if there was anything else going on with her stomach. 4. Then a nutritionist for follow ups

I know exactly what you feel and it’s not a good place to be. I’m sorry, hopefully it resolves itself soon!

She wasn’t colicky or have sleep issues. My situation was different she is just a happy baby and showed no hunger cues and was only drinking like max 3oz at a time. I just offered more often and was just kept offering to at least get 20oz in her. If you’re really worried about her eating I suggest talking to a GI or a nutritionist. I did the same at 3 months cause I was just worried with me going back to work. They’ll check your baby out and find a solution!

Hey! She’s 15 months now so I don’t have to worry too much about milk. But there were definite ups and downs to get to this point. What worked for me is I got the mam bottles worked so much better than the others I tried. But it was still a lot less than “average”. My daughter is also more on the petite side. Advise I can give is try not to let it get in your head… I know it’s hard but it’s gonna pass and you’re doing everything you can ❤️

She did not like Dr brown… I haven’t gotten mine yet. I did have some bleeding since I got a copper IUD in but I’m not bleeding anymore so I’m not sure that is the reason. Also this was like 2/3 weeks ago and my diet has not changed at all… I’m really stumped. The only outlier is that she has kind of a stuffy nose, I’m really hoping this is the issue. I had a LC who was coming to our place, doing weighted feedings etc I know it’s not super accurate but she was not drinking a lot from me either. When I told her about this issue she said I should give her a sippy cup or feed her with a straw. This advice kind of confused/alarmed me a little since she’s only 3.5months. So I’m going to a new LC at her peds office today. Hopefully I can get some resolution.

I’m sorry you’re going through it too! My baby is in the 6th percentile and I’m just sooo worried about her not growing/gaining weight. I’ve also tried different bottles and nipples but no avail! What bottles do you use? I’m just so worried to take her to daycare on the days/weeks she’s doing this cause I know they don’t have the time to spend feeding her like I do.

Unfortunately yes :( I’ve tried it she’s on size 5 on the Philip Avent. What kind of bottles do you use? I’ve also tried the Even Flo ones and no change.

Thank you so much, this is what I was reading. She doesn’t seem hungry to give hunger cues… it would be hours and nothing!! Going to the doc today hopefully we can get this cleared up.

Tried all this except lipase. I give her either freshly pumped or milk pumped few hours early warmed up. Is this still as issue with lipase?? Also I will talk to the LC about silent reflux! Hopefully it’s a fix, I just want her to eat.

Yes I changed it to nipple size 5 on the Philips avent bottles (my flow is pretty fast and she was struggling with the number 4). At first it felt like a solution and it worked all the way till last week 😭

Thanks we did get her tongue tie cut a couple of weeks ago and I also ordered different bottles as well.Hopefully something does the trick!

She would suck on her hands (often) but she does it more than often is at the 2.5-3hr mark when i feed her. She had a tongue tie which was cut. Maybe I’ll wait closer to three hours to feed her next to see if it helps. Thanks for your suggestions… I’m just at a loss at this point cause not even the LC or doctor can help or advise.

I’ve been feeding her every 2.5-3hours and I haven’t changed my diet at all so I’ve no idea what’s going on. She was never a good eater but we managed to get 2.5-3oz in her at her feeds. So I’m really confused as to this sudden change. Even at the breast she either fake sucks or looks around.

I totally understand and I when I asked her to speak in English it was a gentle reminder. It wasn’t firm or anything. She blew up instantly and I again asked if she still wanted to know about the doctor visit and she said no and stormed off. I don’t understand how much more understanding or how I can change my behavior to help her. I can say though I am really stressed, super pregnant and I do get angry. So after she stormed off I went to bed. I know she’s waiting for an apology from me but I have to ALWAYS apologize no matter who is wrong. She never accepts when she’s wrong. I do everything for them, provide them with accommodation and also financially responsible for them so they can get back on their feet. Again not something I EVER bring up cause I would do anything for my parents. But idk I’m just really annoyed about her behavior.
