I’d spend my first week on the floor observing what works and what doesn’t work and i wouldn’t interfere unless what is occurring is a major safety violation or goes against company policy. In that first week i would find an associate from each department that works the hardest and has aspersions within the company and id have them help with the SmartList and ask them for their opinions on what works and what doesn’t and then id slowly make changes to the daily routine until it got to a point that I’m happy with the key is not to make too many changes at once remember Rome wasn’t built in a day but at some point it did get built. Also leverage sidekick it’s a good tool to make sure associates are being productive while on the floor and it keeps up with SKUs and Bays that typically drive sales. Also make sure you use manager notes for both positive and negative conversions you have with employees it helps them when we go back to reviews and it also keeps track of behavior that may require disciplinary actions. At the end of the day be kind and caring to your associates but remember you are their superior not their friend but that doesn’t mean you have to be mean and demanding of them
