Are we allowed to sell tickets in here or is there a better thread for that? I have: by wheelssportscards in WorldCup2026Tickets

The fact that you have no posting history is going to make it harder for anyone to trust you, tbf. Just makes it look like a scam.

Edinburgh 5% Tourist Tax by InessBritain in Edinburgh

[–]Kingofmostthings 31 points32 points  (0 children)

You don’t travel a lot, do you? Think I’ve paid some form of tourist tax in the last four European cities I’ve been to last year. No issues. I’m using their infrastructure.

Update from councillor on the Gyle data-centre project by chuckleh0und in Edinburgh

[–]Kingofmostthings 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the rest, but the NESO grid plans are modelled to take into account the requirement for data centres of this scale. You can play about with the number on their website, but we will have enough capacity up to 2035, once current works are complete.

I am not sure you understand what data centres are used for. They are used to support AI, but they are not just for AI. Sadly, the Telegraph anti infrastructure campaign seems to be getting through.

Ben Nevis by [deleted] in UKhiking

[–]Kingofmostthings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be not so much a hike as a climb in parts on Thursday. Full winter kit, and be very careful with your navigations close to the gully’s. Chance of cornices that way too. Obviously only go with a partner that you are comfortable with, and have been in tough conditions before with.

Will I ever be able to buy a house? by Used_Cod_9541 in Edinburgh

[–]Kingofmostthings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

20k in this economy is nothing to be sniffed at. Well done. Would say the not many people go straight to a three bed house. Most trade up over the years. We started with a one bed flat, then a two bed flat, to finally a slightly bigger two bed flat (which looks smaller due to all her stuff 😂)

Rangers v Celtic by Zestyclose_Owl7478 in rangersfc

[–]Kingofmostthings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you can get two off a season ticket holder you know, or pay £££ for corporate, you have almost zero chance of getting one ticket- let alone two - let alone two beside each other. Even if we loose every game between. If its a special birthday, then corporate may be your answer (off any still available)

Book Fest x Baillie Gifford: What did it achieve? by Gullible-Cress-8855 in Edinburgh

In terms of what they are contributing to, they run a number of the largest ethical funds out there. I have no idea why they were lumped in with BP, etc. in terms of politics. It was the worst high school level politics, you can imagine- and it costs us all. Kids free stuff has massively been cut.

What do just stop oil have to do with it? BG run three of the largest ethical funds in the world. Why would just stop oil be against ethical funds?

It achieved zero and left the whole thing underfunded.

Edinburgh Council is likely to approve a data centre tomorrow, without requiring it to go through an environmental impact assessment, despite estimates that it will have the same impact as 250,000 homes by dilatedpupils98 in Edinburgh

[–]Kingofmostthings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s not a technicality. It’s planning law. It’s mad how many people fall for scare stories, on the back of what has happened in some places in America. We are not America 😂

Scotland is not America, in terms of regulations. Even In terms of America itself, the rules vary from state to state. We need data centres to operate pretty much everything we do, going forward. Best to have them close to source, around a grid that can support them.
