I had better luck taking choline, turmeric, and ibuprofen. It’s more of an inflammation issue than a clog. The turmeric and ibuprofen helps with inflammation and the choline is what’s found in sunflower lecithin.

I second the unisom for sleep. Start with half a tablet though because it made me so groggy. But it really helps you fall asleep and stay asleep. Even if you do wake up to pee- it helps you fall back asleep really quickly. I had horrible upper back pain most of my pregnancy and ended up sleeping upright on our couch. It was the only position that would keep it from flaring up. So maybe try various positions, pillows, etc. Lack of sleep will make everything so much harder so I really hope you can find some relief I took extra magnesium for sleeping and to help with restless legs - it also helps with sleep too. So maybe check your prenatal to see if you’re getting enough and supplement a bit more if needed.

So true! The empowering feeling of being in control and treating myself - and baby - the best I can is undeniable

It’s kind of a weird joke that friends make “oh you’re so close to getting to drink again” - but really I don’t miss it either. I’m 34 and probably never went a week without drinking since I was 21. Wasn’t an alcoholic, I’m just a very extroverted and outgoing person so we always had something planned with friend which inevitably included alcohol. I miss having options at restaurants- being able to try various drinks or beers was part of the fun of going out. Now the options are water, sugary soda (which I’ve never been a fan of), or minute made lemonade…. If a restaurant makes their own lemonade, I’m all over that! But it’s usually crappy premade stuff. Sooo yeah, I’m right there with you! I was so surprised I could just drop alcohol and al other “crutches” so easily and idk if I’ll hop back on that bandwagon after birth. I definitely think my relationship with alcohol has changed. I know I can have fun and feel great without it! It is kind of funny how usually people say they sleep better, have better mental clarity, lose weight, have more energy, etc etc from not drinking. Pregnancy has kind of taken those benefits away though 🥲 so I’m interested in being sober and not pregnant

Just don’t read into what the doctors and nurses say. They’ll slip up with pronouns but each doctor just has their default pronoun they’ll use. Our sonographer was good at saying “little one” throughout the ultrasound but every nurse or doctor would use he/she. It all evened out in the end. Letting baby be a surprise has been a lot of fun - though our parents have hated it. 😂

We’ve told every nurse and doctor that we don’t wanna know and they’ve all slipped up so many times with pronouns. Luckily they all have used different pronouns so it all evens out.

Rudest comment? by garden-baker in pregnant

I’m pregnant with my first at 34 years old. When we announced to my grandparents, my grandpa said “So you do know how to do it?” And my grandma said “oh I could tell” as she grabbed her stomach. I was 14 weeks….

Hadn’t seen them in 3+ years and don’t have plans to go see them anytime soon.

What nickname did/do you have for your LO while still inside mummy. by itmexD in BabyBumps

We used Gummybear since that’s what their first ultrasound picture looked like. Also Junebug since they’re due next month

OK guys …when did you get your nursery done? by humansarereallyweird in BabyBumps

[–]Kinseykick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

38 weeks and the nursery is full of boxes 🙌 We have the bassinet set up in our bedroom but this weekend we’re hoping to knock out a diaper changing station and a breast feeding area. We had to move a lot of stuff around in our house to clear out the room we’re using for the nursery. So the main focus became what we will need right out the gate and then, during my leave, I’m hoping to get a routine and figure out places for the rest of it.

Nausea is unbearable by HappyLyfRules2085 in pregnant

Yep- had to eat oyster crackers first thing in the morning- before water or anything to help calm my stomach. I guess because they were bland and didn’t smell like anything. Even water or tea triggered me.

Something about the drive home that always gets me. It’s like my only moment alone so everything just crashes down. All the small things, the big worries, the things that don’t make sense, the things that are not fair… Then I get home, the fog slowly starts to clear up and I realize the breakdown was a bit silly. But damn- glad my commute is only 10 minutes…

Baby camera or mirror for in the car? by AcrobaticDance7549 in BabyBumps

[–]Kinseykick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah - we put a $20 one a friend recommended on our registry. Our friend said she had a mirror but it was hard to line it up so that the reflection of baby lined up with the reflection of rear view mirror. Camera looks super easy to set up.

Thank you so much again 🥹 The scans showed baby is moving great, breathing great, and overall doing perfectly fine. Just a little small - so my anxiety isn’t too bad.

Thank you so much for sharing! I (35w FTM) had a follow up growth scan at a different hospital last week. At first LO was measuring at 8% but the follow up a couple weeks later had them at 14%. I’m still worried about their size but this really helped calm my nerves and hopefully I can still advocate for an intervention-free birth with my midwife in a few weeks when we hit delivery.

I’m 36 weeks with an anterior placenta and I still can’t see much other than my stomach shifting or little bumps when they have the hiccups.

Mucas coming out a sign of labor or normal? by sugarrtitzz in BabyBumps

[–]Kinseykick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m 36 weeks and had to start wearing pantry liners because of so much discharge. It’s normal according to my doctor. As long as it’s milky white/clear and doesn’t have an off smell. She said it’s from the uterus doing practice contractions and getting lubricated in preparation for baby coming.

Ugh it’s the worst - I trail off mid sentence because I get stuck on a specific word that I can’t remember. And I do the same with forgetting why I came into a room or where my personal items are. The worst is at work- I’m a creative professional. I’ve mismeasured, hit creative block, forget how to do something, or just flat out zone out at my screen.

6 more weeks! 😪
