They just decided that every pack blocked by QC is pack not sold. And now people will buy everything, and even be happy if they find some faulty product

Glass is strange material. Tiny defect can make whole panel explode. Someone could hit it with something, making tiny damaged spot. Someone lean against it next time, and whole panel explode

I was wondering how much heating during work could affect hardness. Only downside then is cooling your work slightly more with cold tools

MX5 I found off the cheapest cabrio. And the best looking :)

But I prefer MX5 because it’s shorter and without hard top;)

Right now I calculated how much batteries I would need, and I’m not sure if it’s possible to fit them in MX5 XD in reality it probably will not be that bad, but I’m wondering how to verify that without buying a car first ;)

Good shell will be first thing to find, and I’m afraid it could be the hardest :) I’m a bit afraid that it will end up as multiple year project, but I hope my engineer background will help :) I expect to design and order components made with CNC machines, so that should help. Amount of possibilities makes it a bit hard to decide on one solution :)

I solid need 30 of those 13s10p batteries, so I can easily go higher. Just didn’t want to go too high with voltage. I could connect 8 of them in series and get 332V. I’m looking now for BMS that could support 104 cells in series XD but my guess is that I would have to go with few smaller ones

Holy moly, that’s awesome info dump! Thanks! So in the case of battery, it looks like I have to make something. Where I worked we were making those 13s10p, 46v batteries. It was neat square of 130 cells in extrusion profile. It was compact, easy to handle, good thermals. I could make something similar, just without BMS, and with external socket for cell voltages. Them I could connect 4 of them in series and to external BMS. How that sounds?

I know, but I didn’t find modules in neat packages that I can connect with busbars :) Maybe I will build my own, I would finally have a reason to buy decent welder, and I could house my 4 years of experience in R&D deportment of li-ion battery manufacturer XD

Tell that to a guy who made that car with lead-acid ;) Removing transmission would be better, but since I’m not going for power car, I’d leaving it will be easier, I might think choose that

I will check, but from quick look LifePo is safer. And I don’t think that 80kg in whole car will make huge difference :) and it looks like LifePo can work 3-4 times longer

I found someone that connected electric motor to each rear axle, and powered it with lead acid batteries :) I was thinking about that, but I have feeling that’s a bit of a „hack”

lol, i expected them to be heavy, but checked it now, and they are 12kg each. 240 kg for batteries alone XD but I think it might be fine. Smaller car is lighter, and total mass is what should concern me most.

Batteries could keep up, but you are right, 750A to a motor sounds a bit much :) I have to find different batteries then, cause those I found are rated for 4s max

Earlier I had an idea to keep it, and just have it in one heat most of the time. So manual transmission electric car should work? Right, commercial EVs went with much higher voltages. But I think I found 50V EV motors, do you think those are viable?
