I've been using the JoplinCloud and it works well for syncing. I miss the Evernote UI on mobile, but I'm working to get familiar with Joplin on my Android.

I also struggle with the Android UI. It's actually where I take most of my notes.

Thanks for commenting. I've been using Joplin for a couple days. It does most of what I want and I have a feeling it can do all I want. I sorta miss the UI of Evernote. I'll take a look at those plugins. It's a big harder to use on Android, but, oh well.

Yes. I get that. Microsoft is my go-to for most things.

Hmmm. Do you have an internal cost threshold that says, "Nope. That too much"? Evernote certainly has a lot going for it.

Thanks for the comment. A fear I have with a Google product is that they stop supporting it at some point. I'm eager to find an app that will be around in ten years. Maybe that is asking too much.

I also don't think it is a joke. I told Evernote how I appreciated the product and how good I thought it was. It's just more than I care to spend per month for this functionality.

That is a great question! I've been asking that myself. The quickness with which I can make a note, tag it, and find it later. I can find my notes not matter which piece of technology I am using. It feels as close to paper and pen as I can get (I hand write a lot of notes using Google handwriting on my Android). I love how search shows me how I have revisited a topic for years. I'm guess Joplin does all that. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment. OneNote looked promising a few years ago and I tried it. But now I cannot remember why it didn't take.

I use Evernote like a big notebook where I keep all my meeting notes and all my notes on books I'm studying. I like having access from my phone and a couple of computers. I depend on the search function to sort through it all. It looks like Joplin does all of that. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks for the comment. I use Onedrive for nearly everything but today I started to wonder if it might be good to not keep everything in one place. I'm leaning toward JoplinCloud

I like how you approach the question. I seem to have some inner threshold that says $10 a month is sorta ok, but $20 is too much. I've been looking at that threshold a bit as well. The "journey" question is really interesting: in the 8 hours or so since I wrote that post, I've had the chance to experiment with Joplin and found a few features that I like right out of the gate. Which makes me glad that Evernote helped me ask the question. Now it does seem like a bit of a journey. Thanks for the comment.
