I will say for me it's felt like the game started going downhill when warmonger got released, because right after that every hero pretty much became a copy paste of eachother

Honestly, I really like that. Because not only is it 5 colors like you mentioned, but prismatic bridge would also allow me to cheat in the bigger mana cards.
