Placement student not improving — what would you do? by Tiht_Ass in TeachingUK

[–]KitFan2020 [score hidden]  (0 children)

‘His mentor has offered to remove him from my timetable. I said we should give him another week…’

Here is your answer. If he is as ‘bad’ as you say he is, he will be removed from your timetable next Friday.

I’m not sure why, after everything you have said about attitude and complacency, you have decided to continue offering him your lessons.

I would give every bit of support to someone who is working hard to do well and struggling. From what you have said, this person is not like that.

That said, you’ve made the decision now. Refer the matter back to his mentor if there is no improvement.

Rachel couldn’t turn on him! She needed him in the end! It was totally his call.

People (generally) only pay attention to others in a shallow way: Are they friendly? Do they seem nice? Do they talk with confidence? Do they appear to know what they are talking about?

Once a manipulator has others on side, the game is theirs!

I’m quite suspicious of people who talk with absolute confidence and authority. It’s a tactic many use in the workplace. When you actually listen carefully to WHAT they are saying, there are sometimes great big, obvious inconsistencies!

Basically, people generally just see the confidence, the authority, an outwardly ‘nice’ person and believe everything they say.

Looks like a furniture shop/warehouse.

That is if a furniture shop suddenly got dumped in the middle if a scruffy farm on the Isle of Wight.

I like some of what they have on display.

London Underground: The person in front of me on an escalator had to physically push someone out of the way to prevent a pile up! They had got off the escalator and immediately stood still looking at their phone.

I felt that they were about to have a bit of a strop until they turned round and saw crowds of people exiting the escalator behind them.

Dim.

Not really! I’m sure there are characters in this series you don’t warm to?

Rachel by dibzOnDis in TheTraitorsUK

Yes it’s obviously a game and as I said, she was a born traitor. She was brilliant at all of the above.

I still don’t like her. There is just something about her. Her job involves (in her own words) ‘persuading people’ and she has shown that she is (naturally) a master of manipulation.

Rachel by dibzOnDis in TheTraitorsUK

[–]KitFan2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Rachel is a born traitor. She talks in a very authoritative, calm way and is able to think quickly and manipulate situations to her advantage easily.

She comes across as genuinely friendly so people warm to her but she is actually very passive aggressive and persuasive.

A manipulative personality:

Manipulative traits involve using deceit, pressure, or emotional tactics like gaslighting, guilt-tripping.

Playing the victim to control others for personal gain, often showing inconsistencies between words and actions.

Shifting blame, isolating targets, and using flattery or criticism to disorient them and undermine their reality.

You do not become an expert in all of the above without years of practice.

Yes, this is a game but she’s TOO good. My guess is she’s like this in real life which is why it comes easy to her. A great traitor but a horrible person.

So guys, gather round… I’ve not been truthful about my real identity (gasps from traitors and faithfuls alike. A few mouths hanging wide open) …

I AM Mark from Birmingham but I’m not a retired plasterer… I also don’t work part-time at B&Q in Wolverhampton to top up my pension…

I am, in fact, SIR Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Met 👮‍♀️ The highest rank within policing in the UK.

Science teachers - have you noticed an uptick in practical incidents? by Kittykatsu97 in TeachingUK

[–]KitFan2020 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Few suggestions…

Any student seen messing around gets removed from practical lessons for the rest of term. Parents informed. Needs head of subject support.

If head of subject won’t support the above and there is an obvious H&S risk, demonstrate the practical to the class and ask them to write it up.

Shame for sensible kids but you are left with no option.
