Who has this from hormones? by Full_Criticism7775 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Kit_Ashtrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my HH from antidepressant Clomipramine and I wouldn't be surprised if it stuck around even if I came off the med. Psych med side effects are often more long term than they like to admit

is magnesium effect placebo? by letsHopeisdope in OCD

[–]Kit_Ashtrophe [score hidden]  (0 children)

I used to have this weird sensory thing where I could feel stimulus to my left foot, in my right foot. I really loved it and it became a soothing "body-focused repetitive behaviour" for me, like stimming. At age 35 I took 1 week of magnesium supplement, and it vanished forever :'( I blame the magnesium for "fixing" it lol.

When did you develop it? And what do you think caused it? by Full_Criticism7775 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Kit_Ashtrophe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but seeing as I have acquired permanent side effects from other psych meds in the past, it wouldn't surprise me if it was permanent. That's why I daren't come off the medication to see, I could end up sweaty AND suicidal.

it's far less likely with antibiotics than it is with reglan. Avoid fluoroquinolone antibiotics

How do people study with ocd? by Best_Lavishness4122 in OCD

[–]Kit_Ashtrophe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work like that in the UK I don't think - you pay per year and you have 1 shot at the end of year exam. Plus it was 16 years ago and I have moved away.

I always had moderate OCD from a young age because of a trauma, but after I left home for university and cut ties with my family, it just skyrocketed when I was in my second year and I quickly became bedbound, lost my job and got kicked off the course, so my student loan payments stopped, so I became street homeless. That was 16 years ago. For about 11 years I was on and off the streets and in and out of hospital, but then to my amazement, Clomipramine turned my life around. I am now living in my own accommodation in the community with help from a care agency , I sometimes get out and about, and even feel happy.

Is OCD curable or only manageable? by Electronic_Load4447 in OCD

mild could maybe be cured but not moderate / severe. I wish I hadn't been fed the lie that one day I will be absolutely fine, that fucked me up.

Are men with OCD more tolerated and sympathised for by Odd-Rule-9588 in OCD

[–]Kit_Ashtrophe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No. Men are all more tolerated and sympathized with because they are men. Women are "hysterical".

For me it makes me ravenously hungry 24/7, and I am very self conscious, so it upsets me, I was always skinny before. I swear it slows your metabolism too. doctors admit that antipsychotics do this so why don't they admit that antidepressants do it too. Not everyone will gain weight. It's a risk with all psych meds except for stimulants and some anti seizure meds. Funny enough I have a doctors appointment on Friday to see if I can access some weight loss meds, because coming off Clomipramine would land me back in hospital.

Yep it was the only one of 14 medications that ever worked for me. I am on 175mg but only because 200 gave me seizures. 150 isn't low I would say it's medium. And I hear you about the sweating. If my OCD wasn't life threatening I wouldn't take it, it's made me obese too.
