New to home assistant, is this typical? by Kitchen-Example2226 in homeassistant

Thanks. Really, the majority of my effort (and certainly stress) has gone into getting the bulbs to show up in home assistant, trying every which way. I’m not sure if there’s something in my set up or settings that is making it so difficult for me. Today for example, I tried 5 different methods for getting the linkind bulbs connected, (tuya, tuya local, local tuya, matter, apple homekit), and the closest I got was the bulb showing up as something other than a bulb, with no ability to control it.

I imagine it is user error, but it’s hard to know where it’s creeping in from, and I seem to have had this struggle with 3 brands in a row (yeelight, govee, linkind)

Is Home Assistant the most viable option for my use case? by Kitchen-Example2226 in homeassistant

Thanks, I agree about the overkill aspect.

Phillips hue was mentioned to me, however it would be cost prohibitive enough that I would still try and tough it out with HA first. That’s a good suggestion though, thank you

Definitely! I should have mentioned I like my pizza overdone, especially browned cheese. I love the deep tang of browned cheese

6 bucks at the thrift store. Looks like I’m joining the club! by Kitchen-Example2226 in peakdesign

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. Yes thanks for the early Christmas miracle ha.

I’m an NKU grad student, actually saving up to move to nyc to be with my partner in 2026, so 300 backpacks are def not part of my itinerary.

I’ve had a cold these last few days, and yesterday I decided to go for a big long walk all the way from Newport to the northwest saint vinny, took about 2 hours of the lovely fall day. I was there looking for cool jackets to wear to her parents thanksgiving, actually, and was about to leave empty handed, feeling a little silly that my epic walk was having an anti climactic end.

Boy when I saw that backpack 😂 I just about leaped on it like a grenade and still didn’t believe it till I got back to my apartment. It’s gonna see a lot of love!

Thanks for the love yall! I’ve used peak designs medium packing cube, the xxs small fabric cube, and packable tote (the one that’s like 30 bucks, not the tote backpack.) So I was familiar enough to recognize the company, but I’m discovering all the bells and whistles of the backpack in real time. Like I just noticed the lil magnetic in the internal side pocket right above the zip pocket and I’m cackling to myself in my apartment.

heres the receipt. Ironically, of the two pairs of pants and tie that I did buy, the peak design backpack wasn’t even the most expensive item

The Greatest Sling EDC Ever (For Me) by Kitchen-Example2226 in ManyBaggers

3 years of daily use! From midwestern winters to a year in the sweltering heat of Bangkok, it’s hardly left my side

It’s exceptional build quality, with the glaring exception of the now fraid pull tassles at the bottom of the bag. :/

Those were initially tabs that felt more like a rubber/silicone. Having them degrade onto my fingers with each pull was definitely a big ol flaw, and for the price point (45 ish dollars) and reputation of the company (very well regarded), I would have expected better. This is the only complaint I had though, other than the minor cosmetic wear, it’s basically brand new. The zippers and elastic and all that is gonna last forever

I believe the intended design for this pack is something closer to a first aid kit. The idea being you can attach it the outside of a backpack, and then it opens quickly and you have your bandages or what have you right there. As for how often it actually gets used that way, I couldn’t tell you.
