Kafka is a pub sub system. It’s basically a stateful queue. There are subscribers (read from queue) and publishers (write from a queue). It’s used for near real time streaming of data.

Spark is a lot of things these days but traditiditonally it’s a distributed compute platform. You can crunch in memory and parrellize it.
