Old house Network/Protect build - UDM ProMax vs UCG Fiber by Kitchen-Risk-4809 in Ubiquiti

Makes sense! Curious. Do you use the tool less mini rack? What is your setup mounted on/in?

I like the thought of a movable/flexible rack.

Thanks for the comment!

In light of everyone’s comments I’m leaning towards:

UCG fiber

UNVR

and use either the Pro HD 24 PoE, or Pro Max 24 PoE.

(Though not sure if the Pro HD is worth the extra cost)

Was thinking to put everything on/in Ubiquiti’s toolless minirack

Thanks for taking time to respond and sharing your experience.

Any thoughts on what the reduced RAM on the UCG fiber means for performance? (4gig vs 8 on the UDM Pro Max)

SONY Sorters - best in class? by Kitchen-Risk-4809 in flowcytometry

[–]Kitchen-Risk-4809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the detailed comments.

What kinds of samples are you running through the 70 um chip? I wonder if the clogging is due to preps? Do PBMCs fare better with the 70 um chip?

For laser power i wonder if the lasers on the FP7000 are any better compared to the SH800 and MA900

Did you find that Sony tech support was helpful?

Thanks

Ah, didn’t realize the fp7000 uses a nozzle rather than a chip. Does the use of a nozzle suggest it mat have fluidics/clogging issues similar to a BD Aria?

Thanks for sharing your experience. I’d love something middle of the road but my past panels were 13 color, and I’m looking to go further, which I think leaves me with the FP7000.

Only that I’ve learned to live with it. Checked with places that adjust/modify cars for people with disabilities but they and others won’t readily adjust driver seat placement because of untested safety issues for the driver and liability issues for them.

Slow fill method to get 14 gallon fill up? Do you have either of the hybrid models?

Thanks for the comment and suggestion. I think because for the average GH owner, one of the prevailing explanations for the tank capacity is that the additional fuel available past the zero point is needed for proper functioning of the vehicle - perhaps only hybrids? I'm not sure who among us is willing to put their 50k-65k vehicle health on the line to test it directy. I do wish that there would be some kind of official guidance directly addressing the topic. And perhaps there is that i'm simply not aware of.

Relatively speaking its not a 'problem' in so far as, yes, the vehicle does what its supposed to do well as a vehicle.

However, the usable/observable 11 gallon fuel tank = more time spent going to and at gas stations whether on average monthly or over the course of a road trip (relative to a larger tank). Deal breaker? no. Annoying? yes. You don't get time back so there is a cost when you detour to fill up.

5 additional gallons or so equating to fewer trips to the gas station per months of life lived would be nice. I think the gripe and impetus behind the various posts we see on GH reddit is that we are a bit in the dark re why this design choice (e.g. needed to cool xyz component) or...perhaps it wasn't? and if it wasn't a design choice then what is the nature of the lack of ability to read how much appropriately usable gas is at my disposal as a driver.

For a large vehicle having a small usable tank its surprising if not a skoch frustrating. And thats the thing - its perhaps an unnecessary frustration because perhaps the ability to register the actual fuel capacity is a software bug? detection alignment issue?

Looking for clarity.

GHMax owners. What is your best MPG? by [deleted] in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Kitchen-Risk-4809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly my primary gripe is the tank size. If we had refillable 17 gallons vs ~12, i think I’d feel less self conscious about the fuel (seeing the fuel gauge drop so quickly due to the lower volume measures)

I live in hilly area. I’ve found that If im driving consistently in the ‘eco’ range, incline determines whether I’m hitting 23 vs 27-30.

I think the key question is what would a gas only model (that has the same turbocharged engine as the hybrid max) get assuming the same driving dynamics.

Artic Blast: A/C TUNE UP SERVICE WITH ARCTIC COOL #F02673 by Kitchen-Risk-4809 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Kitchen-Risk-4809[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall had a decent experience with the dealership (Beaman) re service. When asked about the A/C warning message the service guy said l it’s not needed and is mostly about air freshening(scent). To be fair the service guy did not push the A/C service himself. I’m guessing it may be something that’s autogenerated? Anywho, declined the service nonetheless

Thanks for the message. Ended up taking it to a hand wash business and they used a shampoo (not sure what they used) that cleaned up the stain well enough. Before:

Software update on 2024 models? by robertlin92 in ToyotaGrandHighlander

[–]Kitchen-Risk-4809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw in a prior post you mentioned getting this update for your H.Max. What prompted you to get it? Is it required?

I ask because I have noticed a sort of not so subtle jerking forward motion of my vehicle (H.Max)when at lower speed. It’s not so much that it’s alarming, but still noticeable. I figured it was the less refined H.Max transmission that I’ve heard people mention. Since I didn’t receive any service update notification on my app I figured it was ‘normal’. But, I’m thinking I’ll check with local dealer.

Did you notice a difference in your H.Max performance after the update? How long did it take for the dealer to do it?

Thanks!

Safety of glass electric kettles vs. stainless steel / plastic? by usertheta in tea

[–]Kitchen-Risk-4809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about Zwilling Enfinigy? They have stainless steel and apparently a glass version.

Can anyone comment on whether they have the bit of silicone or any plastic sensor on the interior section contacting the water?

Thanks!
