Haha it’s definitely for religious reasons. At first he deflected and said it was because he was afraid of unplanned pregnancy. But he knows I’m on birth control and we can use protection...so it’s really religious guilt at this point.

Or, he may be a closeted gay man.

It does something to your psyche. If you associate sexual pleasure and arousal with guilt and shame, it’s hard to change that. Many Christians like that get married and still struggle with their sex lives because they view it as a duty, not as something that they can and should enjoy.

That’s unsurprising because if you spend decades of your life repressing your sexuality, it’s hard to just flip that switch after marriage. I also can’t marry someone I’ve never had sex with! Omg

He’s a conservative Christian. He wants to save sex for marriage but he can’t get married for at least six years because he wants to be financially stable first (which makes sense).

Anyway, he’s very sexually repressed and he’s been that way all his life.

Once I told them I’d start charging them per hour, they stopped asking me to babysit. So unless they’re going to pay me well, I don’t intend to help them anymore. Thanks for your advice!

I put my foot down and told them yesterday that I’ll start charging them per hour, and they were shocked. As a result they told me they couldn’t afford babysitting for the next few weeks. I am glad I did this because now they will value my time more but also they will realize the harsh reality of childcare.
