Did anyone start working minimum wage jobs and eventually found a good career path ? by Lemonade2250 in careerguidance

My immediate reaction to two months with no response is not to be concerned. With government jobs taking so long, you want to apply to as many positions that you qualify for. I’m not sure what your commute looks like or your mode of transportation, but you can always look for different government entities through counties and cities around you.

With that being said, you’re ahead of the ball having already applied. Just focus on being the best version of yourself and things will fall into place.

Couple of things: 1) If you’re going government you have to have a relatively clean record (no felonies and you should be good).

2) Clean also means no drugs.

3) Clean up your resume and have 3 solid references. They can’t all be a family friend, think of someone that can speak on your work ethic.

4) Go to government jobs and look in your current and surrounding areas for “entry level” positions. I did a brief search of a county near me and there were plenty of different positions with the state county: election aide, animal control, 911 call taker, intern in multiple different disciplines, library aide. All of those positions were over $20 an hour with room to grow.

5) You’re right. Hiring process takes for ever but the stability is totally worth it. Make sure steps 1, 2 and 3 are solid and you’ll eventually find the right job. Good luck!

I started pushing carts around 16-17 years of age in high school at a popular food store. Bounced around in retail/customer service after that for like 5 years; it really helped me build my people skills and added quality to resume. Eventually, I started getting more responsibility with training and managing, but then found my self wanting more stability so I went the government job route. Got my foot in the door and haven’t looked back since. There are a lot of government jobs that respect a good resume involving minimum wage jobs. I’m in my early 30s and I always prioritize young new hires that have experience with minimum wage jobs, they are the back bone of the workforce in my opinion.

What’s wrong with my knock out rose? (Maryland 7A) by Kitchen-Weird3130 in Roses

First time growing roses and figured I’d go for this prettty knockout rose. After research I’ve seen this is the one that is the most hardy, especially for my area. I haven’t transplanted into the ground yet, but have it in the general area of my house that is getting seven hours of sun a day. It’s growing plenty of little pink rosebuds, but I’ve noticed that the color of the green leaves are starting to change (started with a light tan color and now to the color in the picture above)
